Article We made a table for a family. This table which is installed in to the small room is for a family of three. For wife who is using sewing machine, husband who is doing computer and for new-born daughter. The idea of this table started from simple clues that small hobby, normal life and growing baby. The table size was decided appropriately for the small room, and based on the function in existing house interior, the location of table is decided, and we measured off the each territory to carry out functions reasonably that they need. All objects, the functions which these have, these physical elements enriches people’s lives, but these make their lives passively. On the contrary, people becomes active when physical elements is properly taken away. We wanted that the table can become medium which could share their ideas, feelings, emotions and make their life and action actively and in abundance rather than the furniture which only have simple functions for what they need each other. As a result, we provided proper functions that they need at the present, but we had basic design concept which basically be vacated. This table will carry out the function which is requested now, and it will carry out as medium of communion in family. Futhermore, table’s shape will be changed following the active life. and it will also be medium to read their thinking each other. In architectural position, furniture is minimum unit of this role. Structure arch – The idea of this table structure started from to put up a thin faces(T18mm plywood) after folding. And then we used arch structure to solve the stuffy of faces while maintaining structural characteristics. interknit – We weaved faces from understanding the basic post-lintel construction. Because of this, total board has the same integral structure as folded.
