The Project consist in adding an extensión to a house in a residential area on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, an extensión built with one of the inhabitable modules from the catalogue of the “plug and live system”. The piece added to the existing building is constructed with recycled, salvaged elements and with a wooden framework, mounted in only ten days. Based on the twin concepts plug-in and plug-out units, the system was invented with the idea of building houses fom old port containers. In very little time the interior and exterior parts of the system turned into a more inmediate way of attending to particular demands, be it in terms of time, cost and practicality, progressively displacing the containers fronm the building system setup. Built from reused 8 mm and 15 mm-thick plywood panels from packing cases for automobile parts and from old tie beams from demolished buildings, the house has been constructed by using the technique of balloon frame, heat insulation on the inside of the panels, glass fibre as exterior insulation and sealing. The “lid” of the window in the roo fis openable so as to be able to ventílate the house and to accede to the roof thanks to a set of telescoping arms salvaged from and old car.
