The MuVIM Terrace | Carmen Baselga_Taller de proyectos

The terrace design made in Carmen Baselga_Taller de proyectos is added to the museum that one day the architect Vázquez Consuegra projected. This new urban space is placed between the gardens of the recently opened old General hospital from Valencia that today is a public library, and the building itself. Having concrete on one side and on the other a green space, the terrace design interacts well with the surroundings. Versatility and freshness were the client´s request, the possibility of manipulating the open space with mobile structures, creating a terrace with personality but integrated and respecting the place. The surface of the terrace we used is 475 square meters. We can see two zones, one made of tables and the other made of little chill out sofas. Both have different uses, restaurant (in addition to restaurant in the museum) and coffee or drinks. A group of tables and sunshades have been designed in the studio, as well as the mini-sofas for the chill out zone that are combined with low tables made of carbonium steel sheets and a mobile bar made of the same material. All in two grey shades, in harmony with the concrete of the façade and the blackboard of the pavement. The industrial metal look is in consonance with the surrounding materials, from which emerges the chromatic colours of the sunshades, that makes the sunlight project patterns through them, that are similar to the traditional “cañizos” that were used in the typical beach Spanish bars call “chiringuitos”. The group of tables with the integrated sunshade, finished in steel carbon, work in the following way: the set of tables in an irregular shape is made of four different models that offer the possibility of using them individually or combining them to make groups of four, making a perfect square. The sunshade can be placed on any side of the table because it is adapted to the table legs and it is possible to fix at the height you want. It is possible to combine some of them, crossing them and generating several different shades, and you can change their position individually like you want or depending on the sunlight that enters. [ES] Al museo que proyectó en su día el arquitecto Vázquez Consuegra se suma el diseño de su terraza por el estudio de Carmen Baselga. En la frontera entre los jardines recientemente inaugurados del antiguo hospital General de Valencia, hoy biblioteca pública, y el propio edificio, se ubica este nuevo espacio de ocio urbano. Teniendo a un lado hormigón y al otro un espacio verde, el diseño de terraza interactúa en un permanente diálogo con el entorno. Versatilidad y frescura eran las exigencias del guión, manipular el espacio exterior con volúmenes móviles, creando una terraza con personalidad pero integrada y respetuosa con el lugar. La superficie de terraza sobre la que se actúa es de 475 m2. Se pueden observar dos zonas, una a base de mesas y otra a modo de chillout con pequeños sofás. Ambas se corresponden con dos usos diferentes, restaurante (complementa el restaurante interior del museo) y café o copas. Se ha diseñado en el propio estudio el conjunto de mesas y parasoles, así como los minisofás para la zona chillout que se combinan con mesas bajas de plancha de acero al carbono y con una barra móvil del mismo material. Todo ello en dos tonos de grises acorde con el hormigón de las fachadas y con la pizarra del pavimento. El aspecto industrial del metal está en consonancia con los materiales del entorno, del que emerge el juego cromático de los parasoles, a través de cuyo encordado, la luz del sol proyecta texturas que recuerdan a la filtrada por los tradicionales cañizos de los chiringuitos playeros. El conjunto de mesas con parasol integrado, acabado en acero al carbono, funciona de la siguiente manera: el conjunto de mesas de forma irregular se compone de cuatro modelos diferentes que ofrecen la posibilidad de utilizarse individualmente o combinarse uniéndose hasta en grupos de cuatro, configurando así un cuadrado perfecto. El parasol puede ubicarse en cualquiera de los extremos de la mesa acoplándose a la pata y fijándose a la altura deseada. Se pueden combinar varios de ellos entrecruzándose generando sombras diversas, y se pueden ir cambiando de posición individualmente según se desee o según vaya girando el sol.
