The Secretary is a functional writing desk with storage under the countertop. The desk is designed to be placed in the living room and therefore has a raised level, which works as an extra shelf. It can either be used as a place for home décor items, books or a light, or to accommodate a laptop or computer screen to increase the ergonomics involved with using the computer. Constructed using laminate and oiled oak, the prototype was built by Cabinet Maker Toke Overgaard, from SKP.
The desk is constructed using a sticks and plates technique, where the sticks support the top shelf. The legs prevent the top shelf from bending and provide an aesthetically pleasing look.
