Spread over 20,000 sq. ft area in Thrissur, Kerala, a partly finished structure has been remodeled and turned into a lavish luxurious bungalow. Entire space has been designed to reflect the contemporary lifestyle of the family. The aim was to achieve a simple, sophisticated and warm & luxurious space that stands amidst lush green fields and is connected at every level to the nature outdoor. Retaining the dense structural grid, which was inevitable, the rest of the walls & levels were remodeled. Windows were knocked down to form grand and larger openings to do justice to the space. The entrance to this bungalow had to be grand and we wanted spaces to connect the aisles at the higher level and to imbibe with the volume with a purpose. The piece de resistance is the fiber optic lit swimming pool accessible from the formal living space. There are multi levels created in different spaces taking into consideration the function of the spaces. A large living, which is located centrally, is flanked by raised informal lounge seating meant for the family. In the living space, the serene white feel with different textures and tones, play their part. The effect of stacked glass is different during the course of the day as the skylight filters in light dusk to dawn. The mix of linens, silk, wool, leather and multiple textures in fixtures put the design together subtle, monotoned yet very strong are clear indicators of ZZA’s inimitable style.
