This installation intends to represent metamorphosis as a force that mutates material through fire, an alchemic allegory of the human laboratory and its work in transforming base substances into precious essence. Eighty-five levels of handmade ceramics chosen from those most available in Italy (Slate, Carnica, Luserna, Porphyry, Travertine, etc.), arranged in a spiral, make up the crater of a volcano, to symbolise raw material. This is captured in the act of belching out the natural product of its evolution, as colourful, shiny glazed ceramics.
