Figurines - lighting serie showing the beauty and choreography of a production process In the production process of mouth blown glass, the work of the glassmaker with the glowing material glass and the different tools are remembering dancers in the theater: every movement follows a strict choreography. In the moment, when the glass turns solid it seems like the acting of the glassblower is frozen in the shape. Examining the choreography of the craftsmen, the concept for the Figurines raised. The production process of mouth blown glass is showing in an impressive way the correspondend relationship between space, body and shape. The costumes of the triadic ballet of Oskar Schlemmer are concerning this relationship in a theatrical context: Inspired by this costumes, the Figurines are bringing the theme of choreographical potential into the production and working process. They are consisting of free blown glass bodies which are resulting directly out of the movement of the dancing worker. The glass is blowing on different stands: The connection between the two parts is created in the manufacturing process, in which the glass bubble is blown directly onto the stand and the outline of the stand is formed inside of the glass. Therefore, the stand serves not only as a functional part but also as tool to produce the lamp shade. The result is an optimal fit between stand and vitreous. The Figurines are product as well as object referring to an underlying production process. They are focussing the poetic movements of craft production and the physical relation between material and body. The personal and physical character of the workers are visible in this product. The concept of Figurines is questioning the habits as well as the terms and conditions of work: It is a social and physical choreography which is built up in the objects. Every Figurine is existing beyond comparison: building his own character. Together they are formulating a new vision upon the beauty of figures and the potential of manual techniques. Table lamp, table-table lamp and side table. Material: mouth-blown opaline glass , aluminum, brass, maple
