Forte Champlas

DESCRIZIONE DEL PROGETTO L'area di progetto, denominata “Forte Champlas Seguin” è una frazione del comune di Cesana Torinese (TO) situata a Nord-Est rispetto al centro abitato, riguarda il recupero della parte che comprende la fortezza militare collocata su una posizione strategica che domina la vallata di un contesto alpino. La sua costruzione risale alla fine del XIX secolo per proteggere il confine nazionale da una eventuale invasione da parte dell'esercito francese. Il progetto interessa i due corpi di fabbrica esistenti sottoposti a vincolo monumentale: il Forte, che è delimitato da un fossato, con i suoi cunicoli, polveriera e locali accessori; e la Casermetta che è posizionata al di fuori dall'area delimitata dal fossato. Nell'area del Forte è previsto il recupero architettonico attraverso un progetto di restauro conservativo dei passaggi interrati e dei locali accessori; il riutilizzo del locale polveriera che sarà adibito a biblioteca; la realizzazione di un nuovo corpo di fabbrica ipogeo destinato a sala polifunzionale, ricoperta da terreno riportato, al fine di non essere visibile dall’esterno ed essere parte integrante della montagna. Per quanto riguarda la casermetta prevediamo che venga ricostruita nel rispetto dell'esistente. Al suo interno sono stati pensati degli spazi per un'ampia zona giorno al piano terra e quattro camere da letto poste al piano primo oltre a dei locali accessori ai piani sottotetto ed interrato. Nel complesso riteniamo che l’intervento possa ritenersi valido al fine della valorizzazione dell’area del Forte di Champlas sia dal punto di vista della memoria storica, che dal punto di visto dell’interesse culturale generato dalla gestione del nuovo spazio pensato.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The area, called “Forte Champlas Seguin”, is located in Cesana Torinese, a small municipality in Turin province, and used to be a former military fortress placed on a strategic position dominating the context of an alpine valley. The fortress built dates back to the late of nineteenth century to protect the Italian border from a possible belligerence by the French army. The project provides the re-qualification of two existing buildings, which are subject to Heritage protective restrictions, and the new construction of spaces to contain the new required functions of the complex: the Fort, that is bordered by a moat, with its tunnels, powder magazine and facilities; the Barracks which is situated outside the area bounded by the moat. In the Fort area is provided through the architectural conservation project to restore the underground passages and the facilities; reuse of powder keg that will be used as library; the construction of new building intended to a recessed multi-functional hall, covered by stabilized landfill, in order not to be visible from the outside and be an integral part of the mountain. About the barracks we provide to be reconstructed in accordance with the existing. The key idea for this refurbishment project deals with the connection between the Fort's area and this building, that was realized such as auxiliary building. In fact the former barracks will be converted to residential use. The internal layouts are designed for a wide area on the ground floor and four bedrooms on the first floor. The facilities will be located to the attic and basement floors. Overall, we believe that the project can be considered valid for the purposes of enhancement of Fort Champlas from both the historical memory, and the cultural interest point of view generated by the management of the new space designed.
