Meadowcroft Rockshelter, one of the most important archaeological sites in North America, has been utilized since the earliest Paleo-Indian times. The new enclosure, sensitively anchored at only eight points into the rock face and three points in the ground, protects excavated and unexcavated areas of the site, while providing visitors with observation and interpretive opportunities.
