PLUG LAMP | Form Us With Love

Whether it is to charge a mobile phone, computer, tablet or camera, we constantly seem to be on the lookout for electric points when we are on the go. This is where the idea for the table lamp originates. Plug Lamp is the latest product by the Stockholm-based design studio Form Us With Love for ateljé Lyktan, and it does exactly what its name suggests. By integrating a socket in the lamp design it takes away the annoying procedure of searching for a socket or having to un-plug something in order to access an electrical point. “This was a really simple idea,” says John Löfgren, designer at Form Us With Love, “We wanted to create a lamp with the added bonus of an electrical socket.” The Plug Lamp has a bulbous shape and the socket sits centrally on the base, confidently announcing the dual function of the product. Further the lamp is dimmable and the E27 socket accommodates a variety of light sources, from LED to regular light bulbs. The light source is diffused by an opal glass shade and the powdercoated die-cast aluminum base comes in a variety of colours; from a bright turquoise and a letterbox red, to more muted tones of black, white and grey. Plug Lamp has that unmistakable Form Us With Love signature ‒ a strong, graphic form that clearly communicates its purpose. “There is a natural market for this sort of lamp in public spaces such as lobbies and cafés and also in hotel rooms,” says Löfgren. It is an iconic luminaire that will adorn its surroundings and assist its consumers in equal measures.
