Colours are the true dwellers of space. While shapes occupy space, colours fill it. Colours are also elements of mental dynamism, they give movement to physically static bodies Colours always belong to the future and never to the past: from the past's obscure distance they cross the present running fast in the direction of the future. Ultimately the very concepts of journey, shape and future are inherent to the idea of colour. Selling colours is like selling "mental spaces" that enter in ourselves and meet our senses. Having these ideas in mind, we approached the Nippon Paint's study concept . First of all we think that the new Nippon Paint's retail shop should be original and attractive, having personality and distinctiveness capable of appeal to the pedestrians and people passing on the street. The building, apparently complex, has the shape of a triangle with smoothed angles. It is simply composed by a main curved body at groundfloor level, while the upper body is a variable section ribbon. We take inspiration from the abstract form of the three-colour triangle, the shape that simbolyze the genesis of all colours. Inside the building, at ground level, we find the retail space with an assortement of various materials and different paints. Then the route inside the shop will be a set course: customers will go to the upper level "immersing" themselves inside a colourful tunnel that, walked way down, will cross different and progressive chromatic fields each one provided of a paint erogator (like draught beer or ice cream distributor e.g.). The tunnel route, besides being very suggestive, invites customers to have a look to every shades of colour available for selling. At the very end of the tunnel is the cash desk, visually linked to the groundfloor's retail area. In our study concept, inside Nippon Paint's shop, customers don't simply buy paints but they make an immersive journey into colours and chromatic suggestions.
