The Vertical Farm defy a paradox that has been consolidated to the point of being taken for granted: the cities are places where it concentrates a huge demand for goods, but produce only services. In this situation, is opposed by a new conception of the city, between ancient and postmodern, which sees return to work within the walls ejected in previous centuries. Not only the production of energy, geothermal or photovoltaic that is, but also agriculture. The growing environment would be closed and controlled. This not only would allow the structure to be productive 12 months a year, but avoiding the entrance of pests or weeds, eliminate any need for pesticides and herbicides. Even the air would be filtered before being placed in the building, removing pollutants and dust. Zero Distance: or retail at the same production. Avoiding the transport of food waste, which saves both fuel.
