Day Care Centers for the Senior Citizens of the community bring together a variety of amenities, including cultural and social activities, arts and crafts, lectures, recreation, meals, laundry and hairdressing facilities. The center is located in a quiet neighborhood. About 4,000 elderly citizens reside in its vicinity. The building of 1200 sqm is composed of three wings, defining the entrance square, which also serves as a meeting place for the children from the nearby school, and the inner courtyard, which is used solely by the senior citizens. The entrance space is two stories high, and opens on to the inner courtyard. The reddish wall in the entrance façade is extended to the interior of the building, forming the reception desk. The carefully designed fenestration is lit at night, inviting passers-by to come and participate in the ongoing activities within. The northern wing of the building contains the social workers' offices. The top floor comprises two classrooms for various activities. The southern wing houses the recreation area, kitchen and an art workshop. Adjacent to it is a shaded courtyard, which enables activities in a sheltered open-air area. The top floor of this wing houses a large multi- purpose auditorium, which has a vaulted blue-gray ceiling. Adjacent to it, a dressing room and a small kitchen which facilitate the various activities held there. The building has a quiet, unimposing appearance, blending in with the surrounding neighborhood, yet it stands out through its uniquely formed volumes and colors. The delicate texture of the pigmented plaster enhances the buildings' overall light & gay effect.
