In June 2004 Marcello has been asked by the Major of Civitavecchia, a town north of Rome with one of the largest ports of the Mediterraneum, to produce a feasibility study for reuse of a small island in front of the port that used to host bathing facilities. The building was destroyed in the 1970's by a hurricane. The island is currently configured as a terrace for sunbathers, function that seems not adequate to either the context or use demand. The site is adjacent to the recently reconfigured waterfront on Lungomare Thaon de Revel and provides a unique opportunity to locate a needed public service. The project has the objective of soliciting public attention on an exeptional location currently not used to the extents of its potential. It is also an occasion to recall the memory of a site that represented a strong landmark for the town of Civitavecchia.
