In 2018, we received the assignment from Kantox, a growing startup with a lot of potential, to optimize, renovate, and corporately adapt their offices in Barcelona. Located in the emblematic Mapfre Tower, the location next to the sea couldn't be more inspiring.

The project was developed in two phases. In the first phase, we designed the office, distributing workspace, meeting areas, and common spaces across a single floor. About four years later, entering the second phase, the company doubled in size, prompting the expansion of the office by adding an additional floor below. There was a need to adapt the space to create a new vertical connection and restructure the relationships between the different areas to ensure that the office workflow wouldn’t be affected by the change, while also ensuring that all new requirements were accommodated within the given space.

We decided to utilize the existing structure of the tower to benefit the project. As a result, most of the closed meeting areas are located around the core of the building, leaving open wide spaces for work areas towards the facade. These areas, where inspiration is crucial, offer incredible views of the sea and the city of Barcelona, without visual obstacles.

The goal was to unify both floors using the same design language and corporate colors, while creating enough areas with distinct identities to achieve a diverse, flexible, and complete overall space, all while maintaining the versatility of the common areas.

Regarding materiality, we chose to use Kantox's corporate blue and grey for both carpeted floors and vertical surfaces, as well as for painting certain elements. We also designed an area dedicated to the main partner, BNP Paribas, incorporating their corporate green. At the same time, we wanted to include wood in fixed furniture and certain specific areas to add warmth, along with glass, which allows us to enclose the space while maintaining visual transparency.

En 2018 recibimos el encargo por parte de Kantox, una startup en crecimiento y con mucha proyección, de optimizar, renovar y adecuar corporativamente sus oficinas en Barcelona. Ubicadas en la emblemática torre Mafre, la localización al lado del mar no podía ser más inspiradora.

El proyecto se desarrolló en dos fases. En la primera fase, diseñamos la oficina distribuyendo áreas de trabajo, áreas de reuniones y espacios comunes en un solo piso. Cuatro años después, al entrar en la segunda fase, la empresa duplicó su tamaño, lo que llevó a la expansión de la oficina agregando un piso adicional debajo. Surgió la necesidad de adaptar el espacio para crear una nueva conexión vertical y reestructurar las relaciones entre las diferentes áreas para garantizar que el flujo de trabajo de la oficina no se viera afectado por el cambio, al tiempo que asegurábamos que todos los nuevos requisitos se ajustaran al espacio dado.

Decidimos utilizar la estructura existente de la torre en beneficio del proyecto. Como resultado, la mayoría de las áreas de reuniones cerradas se encuentran alrededor del núcleo del edificio, dejando espacios abiertos amplios para áreas de trabajo hacia la fachada. Estas áreas, donde la inspiración es crucial, ofrecen vistas increíbles del mar y la ciudad de Barcelona, sin obstáculos visuales.

El objetivo era unificar ambos pisos utilizando el mismo lenguaje de formas y colores corporativos, al tiempo que se creaban suficientes áreas con diferentes identidades para lograr un espacio general diverso, flexible y completo, manteniendo la versatilidad de las áreas comunes.

En cuanto a materialidad, optamos por utilizar el azul y gris corporativo tanto en suelos de moqueta como en superficies verticales y pintura de ciertos elementos. Decidimos proyectar también una zona dedicada al partner principal, BNP Paribas, incluyendo su verde corporativo.  Al mismo tiempo quisimos incluir la madera en mobiliario fijo y ciertas areas específicas para aportar calidez, junto con el vidrio, que nos permite cerrar el espacio manteniendo la transparencia visual.
