Like Trees In The Woods

NichelcromLab, an Italian brand specialized in stainless steel cladding and surfaces, presents the artistic installation “Like Trees In The Woods” at the Superdesign Show, specifically created for the Design Week by the sculptor Michele D'Agostino.

The installation is an immersive experience with a strong scenic impact, born by the dialogue among nature, materials and technology. The visitor is invited to walk through a real oaks wood, typical of the Italian landscape, which is reflected and endlessly replicated thanks to the mirroring effect of the steel that surrounds it. This work creates an extraordinary visual experience, multiplying the space and generating, through optical illusions, a disorienting and decontextualizing effect.

This imposing environmental work aims to establish a virtuous dialogue between the natural and the artificial environment, emphasising the beauty and fragility of our ecosystem. Particularly significant is the choice of material used: mirroring stainless steel, totally eco-friendly as it is 100% recyclable.

NichelcromLab is in fact the experimental division of Nichelcrom, a leading company in the market for almost seventy years, which has always been attentive to eco-sustainability
and the adoption of green industrial policies, starting from its processing techniques such as mirror polishing or nanoceramic-protected colouring, with zero environmental impact.

Consistent with the company’s practice, at the end of the Design Week all of the trees will find their permanent home and will be planted in the city of Milan, creating a small green lung gifted to our community.

Bringing the woods into a room means reflecting on the disorientation of the natural element in an artificial context and on the replacement of the earth with the floor and the sky with the ceiling.

Covering the woods with mirrors indicates the willing of a prompt involvement of the audience, building our image in continuity with that of trees. The presence of mirrors is also linked to the influence applied by the visual effects and multiplied images, which attract the sight and contribute to the creation of an alternative space. NichelcromLab invites viewers to experience “Like Trees In The Woods” and to be part of this unique dialogue between nature and technology.

NichelcromLab, brand italiano specializzato in rivestimenti e superfici d’acciaio inox, presenta al Superdesign Show l'installazione “Like Trees In The Woods”, concepita appositamente per la design week dallo scultore Michele D'Agostino.

L’installazione è un'esperienza immersiva dal forte impatto scenico, che nasce dal dialogo tra natura, materiali e tecnologia. Il visitatore è infatti invitato ad attraversare un vero e proprio bosco di querce, tipiche del territorio italiano, che si riflettono e si replicano all’infinito grazie all’acciaio specchiante che le circonda. Quest'opera crea un'esperienza visiva straordinaria, moltiplicando lo spazio e generando attraverso illusioni ottiche un effetto spiazzante e decontestualizzante.

L'imponente opera ambientale vuole instaurare un dialogo virtuoso tra l'ambiente naturale e l'ambiente artificiale, sottolineando la bellezza e la fragilità del nostro ecosistema. Particolarmente significativa è la scelta del materiale utilizzato, l'acciaio inox, totalmente ecosostenibile in quanto riciclabile al cento per cento.

NichelcromLab è infatti la divisione sperimentale nata nel 2019 dell’azienda Nichelcrom, attiva da quasi settant’anni, da sempre attenta all’ambiente e all’adozione di politiche industriali green, a partire dalla scelta di materiali totalmente riciclabili e di tecniche di lavorazione, dalla lucidatura a specchio alle colorazioni protette da nanoceramica, a zero impatto ambientale.     

Coerentemente con la pratica aziendale, al termine della design week gli alberi di Like Trees In The Woods troveranno la loro collocazione permanente e saranno messi a dimora nel territorio milanese, dando vita a un piccolo polmone verde offerto alla comunità. 

Portare il bosco in una stanza significa riflettere sullo spaesamento dell'elemento naturale in un contesto artificiale, sulla sostituzione della terra con il pavimento e del cielo con il soffitto. Ricoprire il bosco di specchi denota la volontà di un coinvolgimento immediato del pubblico, per costruire la nostra immagine in continuità con quella degli alberi. Alla presenza degli specchi si collega anche la suggestione esercitata dagli effetti visivi e dalle immagini moltiplicate, che attirano l'occhio e contribuiscono alla creazione di uno spazio altro. Nichelcrom Lab invita gli spettatori a vivere l'esperienza di Like Trees In The Woods e a essere parte di questo dialogo unico tra natura e tecnologia.
