BURDEN OF THE SEA | Mathieu Nouhen
New Zealand / 2024
The memorial "Burden of the Sea" evokes the multitude of nuclear tests in the Pacific Ocean. Disruptions to fauna and flora, this brutality has left invisible traces and scars on its landscapes. Through its massiveness, this memorial reveals the weight of these acts through a meeting, that of the tide and the concrete sphere. The project and its accessibility changes with the ebb and flow of waves and the nature of the tides, oscillating between revealing itself and being swallowed by the sea water.
