A young couple has recently purchased their dream home, a spacious 120 square meter apartment right next to the Moscow lake and just a short walk from the beach.

They envisioned a dwelling that was both bright and modern, yet timeless. To achieve this, they enlisted the expertise of Alisa Shabelnikova, a seasoned interior designer. 'The original layout made no sense — its uneven corners, a living room divided by doors into two areas, and large air vents on the ceiling. We all agreed that a complete makeover was necessary,' the project's author shares.

The redesign made the space more cohesive, with rooms that flow into each other. The entryway leads into a living room brightened by large windows showcasing a stunning view. "The first impression of a home is always crucial, and I try to think of the most effective composition," the designer remarks. The apartment now features a large living area with a dining space and a well-integrated kitchen.

"One of the disadvantages of the apartment was the poorly located and bulky boxes for ventilation and sewerage in the kitchen area. We hid them behind panels, lowered the ceiling in this area and got a niche in which we placed kitchen furniture. For visual symmetry, some of the panels are covered with the same walnut veneer as the fronts of the kitchen cabinets, so everything looks like one organic ensemble," Alisa details.

The private area includes a large bedroom with its own bathroom and dress room. Built-in wardrobes next to the window blend seamlessly with the wall color. There's also an additional closet and a laundry room for convenience. Furthermore, there is a guest room, ready to be transformed into a nursery in the future.

"We opted for a warm white color throughout, contrasted with dark walnut. The guest bathroom, however, features a standout dark chocolate color," the designer notes. This consistent color scheme across walls and furniture makes the apartment feel larger and more luminous.

Alisa Shabelnikova was pleased with the result of the project, noting that it was a pleasure to work on it thanks to the support of the clients and the successful implementation of their collective vision.
