The redevelopment of the Civic Centre on Giorgini Street represents a significant opportunity for the community of San Vito, a neighbourhood on the outskirts of Lucca characterised by a complex history and vibrant cultural diversity. The long-abandoned building has been transformed into a modern multipurpose centre, meeting the community's demands and reflecting its values: social inclusion, sustainability, and identity.

The architectural intervention incorporates innovative and technological elements, such as a "bioclimatic" wall made of coloured aluminium panels that open to adjust the internal light, reflecting a commitment to energy efficiency and indoor comfort. The colours of the panels, with those on the south side inspired by nature and those on the west representing the cultural diversity of the neighbourhood, promote an inclusive and welcoming environment. The shape of the panels echoes the spines of books in the library housed within.

At the same time, the project involves reorganising the interior spaces to accommodate a variety of activities, from education to culture, from socialising to relaxation, making the building more accessible.

The tower is the new landmark of the neighbourhood, characterised by high residential buildings.

The Civic Centre represents a model of urban regeneration and social inclusion, offering a place for meeting and growth for the citizens and a symbolic place for the identity of the neighbourhood.
