Harmony between Chaos and Serenity

In the picturesque landscapes of Maerim, Chiangmai, a testament to culinary ingenuity and design brilliance stands tall—an extraordinary fine-dining sanctuary conceived by a chef who sought refuge from the bustling energy of Bangkok. Nestled in the heart of Maerim, the establishment finds its serene home where the owner's residence seamlessly integrates with the surroundings.

Architectural Brilliance: Carving Tranquility

The visionary architectural plan was clear from the outset—to craft a contemporary cave within the expansive panorama of Maerim. The result? A sleek and sophisticated concrete edifice, resembling a simple box with a gently sloping roof. The exterior, adorned with a primitive concrete finishing technique, lends a tactile and visually appealing texture.

Inside the Cave: A Design Symphony

As patrons step inside, they traverse a high, narrow space enveloped by raw concrete walls, guided by strategically placed floor lighting. This intentional entrance mimics the enchanting journey of entering a cave, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Internally, the rawness of concrete walls prevails until the main bar, where a precast technique, deliberately devoid of color, enhances the cave-like ambiance.

Spatial Elegance: Where Dining Meets Service

The spatial organization of the establishment defines two principal zones—the "Dining" area and the discreetly tucked away "Service" section. The former includes an Entrance corridor, Dining space, and Terrace, while the latter elegantly accommodates kitchen storage and facilities. The design seamlessly merges functionality with aesthetics.

Dining Bliss: A Balance of Elements

Within the dining space, a delicate balance unfolds—a fusion of semi-kitchen and dining area. The limited seating, featuring both a bar and wooden dining tables, creates an intimate setting for a select 12 patrons. The lofty wooden ceiling reveals the steel structure, gracefully sloping towards the culmination of the dining space.

Terrace Panorama: A Culinary Finale

Descending to the lowest point, patrons are greeted by the terrace—a designed haven for post-dining relaxation. Complete with a sitting area and a concrete stove for grilling and chilling, it offers a panoramic vista of the surrounding fields and stars. Here, after the main course, patrons can unwind with a glass of whiskey, enveloped in the tranquility of the thoughtful design.
