The clients wanted to restructure their duplex and recreate the unifamilial house, currently divided into two heterocyclic and charmless apartments.
They wanted to turn this typical brick house from Rosemont la Petite Patrie into a uniform house, full of light, with a design tailored to who they are. We have totally restructured the space to give back to this house its unicity and give it a light and tidy atmosphere.
We have been working around a color palette and materials inspired by the photography collection of the clients: terracotta, navy blue, rusty red, brown, pistachio green, white, wood and the italian terrazzo in full highlight.

In this project, a lot of ideas came out as responses to frustrations in usage of the duplex: no entrance area, no storage place. In counterpoint, the project is articulated around a vast entrance area with a dramatic curtain, which hides vast storage areas, enabling a tidy entrance at all times, even in the midst of winter.

The main challenge was to recreate unicity in this house, currently divided into two heterocyclic apartments, and let a perfect coherency emerge.This entailed to totally reshuffle the circulation areas. The tailor-made staircase is the hyphen between the two levels, reinforcing unicity between the various areas.
