Colle Allegro "New Tuscan Luxury Life Style" is the pay-off of the project, inspired by the style that the Gori Family wanted to give to this place. The project aims at giving back this style to an area characterized by the shabby rural genesis and unfortunately decayed.

The project is born as a work of the avant-gardes, a scratch by Fontana, which doesn’t want to be limited to the simple recovery of the area and its architecture, but it was imagined to paint on a canvas with fast signs, to scratch the place by creating on it constructions that show the viewer how a modern three-dimensionality exists and is ready to dialogue with the past.

The Villa is the focus of the project, representative spaces of the Holding, with the Gallery dedicated to the history of products and lobby areas for guests and clients, 5 completely independent luxury apartments with the same floor area, with views on both sides of the property, "loft" atmosphere and 3 common areas on the main floors that represent hospitality, entertainment and the owners.

All apartments have entrance from the common areas located in the center of the building, spread over 3 floors, any surrounding area is easy to access, in addition to the lift, through the creation of two connecting staircases: one, almost carved, placed on the front side of the building, as a celebration of the main entrance of the Villa, is a link between the ground floor and the first floor, whereas the other, instead connects the first and third floors, created by the meeting and the fusion between a helicoidal staircase and a straight one, and it is placed on the back side of the building.

The housing units are inspired by a Wabi-Sabi vision: a praise to imperfection of temporary and unfinished things, celebrating the beauty of unusual things. Each unit is characterized by antique wood floors, which Emanuele wanted to be laid before the construction site was finished, to highlight its character, or in the lime based wall finishes, a living material, which transforms itself day by day and makes the defect of the surface its greatest aesthetic value. In the same line, the coffered ceilings recall the past of the residence and coexist with contemporary signs, designed by Studio and realized by an Umbrian cabinetmaker Master. They are the are the proof that craftsmanship continues, even among a thousand difficulties, to be the true hallmark of Made in Italy.

The intervention involves the recovery of an underground passage that historically was used as an escape route most likely because of the war, rather than to hide "habits from Decameron" of the Lords of the past. From the passage there is access to one of the residences, which thus has a privileged entrance to the elegant garden in front of the Villa, spread on 4 levels, which take advantage of the slope of the hill, and characterized by exceptional secular trees including a redwood, two enormous cedarwoods and four palms, which recall colonial era.

The most important thing of the renovation works is to preserve the Family Chapel which is set inside the geometries of one of the apartments at the ground floor, recovering the late nineteenth-century original frescoes and also all the relics that were kept there. Nowadays we can find many references to the Families who lived the Residence and see shades of blue which gently rest on all the wall hangings.

Divided by the Italian-style garden but connected to the Villa by a 15-meter walkway, there is a two-story contemporary architecture set into the hill. Only one floor is partially above the ground resulting from the removal of a substantial portion of hill, and then it was harmonized through a 1200 mq garden roof, which has the function of trait d’union with the hill, thanks to the autochthonous trees that have been foreseen, selected In collaboration with landscape architect Elisa Frappi of POOL. Thank to that. the new building creates a unique space. Inside we can find a 500 sqm SPA, 4 guest suites and a winter garden which is connected to the underground car park for 20 vehicles, close to the upriver excavation. With its position, the parking space acts as a filter element in the internal roads, preventing the creation of traffic in front of the Villa and guaranteeing comfort and fully usability for all guests.

The new spa is 500 square meters of size and it is created as the celebration of the meeting between the majesty of stone and the fluidity of water. The spa will be a space entirely based on the care and well-being of the person with 10 stations: chromo-therapy shower and steam baths, relax area, Turkish bath, hot tub, sauna, swimming pool with counter-current swimming, Kneipp path, salt room and massage room. The hydromassage area will be the center of the project and it is part of a loop of the ground that contained tanks for collecting rainwater, which has been transformed in in an iconic place by Emanuele. It is characterized by a pool of water with an elliptical cut in the center, which sculpts an air ring always maintaining the dialogue between nature and architecture.

FROM THE LANDSCAPE POINT OF VIEW

In terms of landscape, the main purpose was to maintain all the existing plant species, by adding Mediterranean plant species. For this reason, it has been decided to collaborate with Pool and in a particular way with Elisa Frappi to select and harmonize plant species inside the property.

Today we can find 7 green macro-areas: the front garden, the one in front of the Villa, the Italian garden, the roof-garden, the winter garden, the olive grove and orchard area, and the wooden area. Each area requested a project of careful selection of species, because, even if they are in the same complex, different expositions create different microclimates. If they were not considered, they would have decreed the complete failure of the project.

The project includes areas with avergren carpets, where the grass would have had difficulty surviving, taking care of the waste of water resources, or different species typical of Italian gardens, such as boxwood and yew in the “secret garden”, gramineous plants in the roof garden, but above all, extreme care has been taken in the preservation of pre-existing species, such as oaks and cypresses, the sequoia and the cedars of the garden in front of the villa, in some cases doing real works of "first aid" on species in difficulty due to construction and age. About this, sensibility, love and care of the property were helpful to preserve this important botanical heritage.

The property, loving nature and green areas, but also fan of exotic botanical plants, asked the architect to create a winter garden inside the new structure: the garden is distributed on two different levels and have a microclimate that allows life to exotic plant species. This space includes also an area dedicated to meditation and to a “dialog with nature”.

Regarding the nightlife of the park, a lighting concept with direct, indirect, refractive and emotional light sources has been designed, in collaboration with Cristian Farnetani of G-Smart. The architect’s idea was to obtain a lighting with artificial sources, which would recall the most romantic one that you have using the flame, so torches and candles. Direct light sources with a limited light intensity tend to illuminate the surfaces of the floor without dazzling visitors. Sometimes they are used embedded in the flooring with the aim to create the idea of walking in a path lighted by little flames which point the path. About that, Emanuele made a study of point light and he design personally the object, with the aim to obtain the best possible effect. The hoped result has been reached after months of tests, designs and study of feasibility with the involved companies.

The lighting of plants in this type of context is fundamental. For this reason, the choice of using light to emphasize the geometry of green through projectors and lenses that can adapt and enhance in the best way all the different botanical species, creating a “magical aspect”.

Colle Allegro “New Tuscan Life Style” è il pay-off del progetto, ispirato da quello stile che la Famiglia Gori ha voluto imprimere a questo luogo, quello stile, che il progetto vuole restituire ad un’area così profondamente caratterizzata da una genesi rurale oggi altrimenti “lasciata a se stessa” in un lento ed inesorabile decadimento. 

Il progetto nasce come un’opera delle avanguardie, un graffio di Fontana, dove non ci si è limitati  al semplice recupero dell’area e delle sue architetture, ma si è immaginato di dipingere su una tela con segni veloci, di graffiare il luogo creando su di esso delle costruzioni che mostrino agli occhi del fruitore come esista una moderna tridimensionalità, pronta a dialogare con il passato.

La Villa è il fulcro del progetto, gli spazi di rappresentanza della Holding, con la Gallery dedicata alla storia dei prodotti e aree lobby per gli ospiti ed i clienti, 5 unità abitative completamente indipendenti, di metrature analoghe, con affacci su entrambi i fronti della proprietà, ambientazioni “loft” e 3 spazi comuni ai piani principali che interpretano l’accoglienza, l’intrattenimento e la rappresentanza.

Tutti gli appartamenti hanno ingresso dalle aree comuni posizionate al centro dell’edificio, distribuite su 3 piani, sono raggiungibili, oltre che con l’ascensore, mediante la creazione di due scale di collegamento, una, quasi scolpita, posta sul lato frontale dell’edificio, a celebrazione dell’ingresso principale della Villa, collega il piano terra ed il primo piano, mentre l’altra, si “arrampica” tra il primo ed il terzo, generata dall’incontro e dalla fusione tra una scala elicoidale ed una rampa rettilinea, snodandosi nella parte posteriore dell’edificio.

Le unità abitative sono ispirate da una visione wabi-sabi: elogio dell’imperfezione delle cose temporanee ed incompiute, celebrazione della bellezza delle cose insolite.  Queste caratteristiche sono di facile lettura nei pavimenti in legno antico, che Emanuele ha voluto fossero posati prima che il cantiere fosse finito, per accentuarne il carattere, o nelle finiture murarie a base calce, un materiale vivo, che continua quotidianamente la propria trasfornazione e fa del difetto della superficie il suo maggior pregio estetico. Sempre nella stessa logica, i soffitti a cassettoni richiamano il passato della residenza dialogando senza imbarazzo con segni contemporanei, realizzati su disegno dello Studio da un Maestro ebanista Umbro, sono la dimostrazione che l’artigianalità continua, anche tra mille difficoltà, ad essere il vero segno distintivo del Made in Italy.

L’intervento prevede inoltre il recupero di un passaggio interrato che storicamente serviva da via di fuga, molto probabilmente per motivi bellici, piuttosto che per nascondere “vizi da Decamerone” dei Signori del passato. Da questo passaggio oggi si può accedere ad una delle residenze direttamente dal giardino fronte Villa, abitazione che può così vantare un accesso privilegiato all’elegante spazio verde posto di fronte alla residenza, disposto su 4 livelli, che sfruttano il declivio della collina, è caratterizzato da eccezionali esemplari di piante secolari tra cui una sequoia e due enormi cedri, oltre alle 4 palme di evidente richiamo coloniale.

Le operazioni di restauro hanno cercato di aver cura di preservare la Cappella di Famiglia che si incastona all’interno delle geometrie di uno degli appartamenti a piano terra, recuperando gli affreschi originali tardo ottocenteschi e anche tutta le reliquie che vi erano custodite, con un’opera di attento recupero. Oggi quindi possiamo leggere di nuovo i tanti riferimenti alle Famiglie che hanno vissuto con alterne fortune all’interno della Residenza, oltre a poter godere dei toni dell’azzurro delle decorazioni pittoriche, che si adagiano delicatamente su tutti i paramenti murari.

Diviso da un giardino all’italiana, ma collegato alla Villa da una passerella di 15 mt, si incastona nella collina un’architettura contemporanea di due piani, di cui uno soltanto parzialmente fuori terra, nata dall’inclusione di un nuovo volume in una consistente porzione di collina, che è stato armonizzato ad essa, mediante un tetto giardino di 1200 mq, che funziona da trait d’union con la collina che lo sovrasta, grazie anche all’attenta opera paesaggistica che ha previsto l’impianto di essenze arboree autoctone, selezionate in collaborazione con la paesaggista Elisa Frappi di POOL, grazie alle quali il nuovo edificio costituisce un unicum spaziale con l’ambiente circostante. Al suo interno troviamo: la SPA di 500 mq, le 4 residenze per gli ospiti ed un giardino d’inverno su un doppio volume, che si collega al parcheggio interrato, che può custodire fino a 20 autoveicoli. Il Parcheggio così posizionato funziona da elemento filtro nella viabilità interna, impedendo al traffico veicolare il transito di fronte alla Villa stessa, garantendo tuttavia un confort ed una estrema comodità di fruizione ed utilizzo a tutti gli ospiti.

La nuova Spa di circa 500 mq ha la sua genesi nella volontà dell’Architetto e della proprietà di riuscire a celebrare l’incontro tra la quiete della pietra e la fluidità dell’acqua, nasce così uno spazio interamente basato sulla cura e sul benessere della persona, al cui interno si sviluppano un percorso sensoriale fatto di 10 stazioni: doccia con cromoterapia e bagni di vapore, zona relax, bagno turco, vasca idromassaggio, sauna, piscina con nuoto contro-corrente, lettino no gravity, stanza del sale e sala massaggi. La zona idromassaggio sarà il fulcro del progetto, ricavata in un’ansa del terreno che conteneva vasche di raccolta dell’acqua piovana oggi è stato trasformato in un luogo iconico da Emanuele: si mostra così come uno specchio d’acqua con al centro un taglio ellittico, che scolpisce un anello di aria attorno alla vasca d’acqua, un segno scultoreo, adagiato in un’architettura ricoperta di foglia d’oro.

A LIVELLO PAESAGGISTICO

Delineate le linee guida dell’intervento a livello architettonico, dal punto di vista paesaggistico, lo scopo principale è stato quello di mantenere tutte le essenze di pregio esistenti, integrando essenze di chiara matrice Mediterranea, per questo insieme alla proprietà si è deciso di avvalersi della collaborazione di Pool ed in particolare di Elisa Frappi per la selezione e l’armonizzazione delle essenze arboree all’interno della proprietà.

Oggi sono facilmente identificabili 7 macro aree verdi: il giardino d’ingresso, quello fronte Villa, il giardino all’Italiana, il tetto giardino, il giardino d’inverno, l’area ad oliveto e frutteto e infine l’area boschiva. Ogni area ha richiesto un progetto di selezione attenta delle specie, perché se pur all’interno di un medesimo compendio, le diverse esposizioni creano microclimi completamente diversi, che se non fossero stati considerati avrebbero decretato il fallimento completo del progetto. Così in completa condivisione sono state incluse nel progetto aree con tappezzanti sempreverdi, dove il prato avrebbe avuto difficoltà a sopravvivere, con un occhio al contenimento dello spreco delle risorse idriche, o essenze elegantemente tipiche del giardino all’italiana, quali bosso e tasso nel “giardino segreto”, graminacee nel tetto giardino, ma soprattutto si è posto estrema cura nella salvaguardia delle specie preesitenti, quali lecci e cipressi secolari, la sequoia e i cedri del giardino fronte villa, in alcuni casi facendo vere e proprie opere di “primo soccorso” sulle essenze in difficoltà a causa del cantiere e dell’età.  In questo senso sono state senza dubbio di primaria importanza la sensibilità, l’amore e la cura della proprietà verso la salvaguardia di questo importante patrimonio botanico.

La proprietà, amante del verde e della natura, ma anche appassionata di esemplari botanici esotici, ha chiesto all’Architetto di ricavare un giardino d’inverno all’interno della nuova struttura: questo si snoda in un doppio volume, dove è stato creato un microclima che permette la vita a piante esemplari di provenienza esotica, oltre ad esservi ricavate aree dedicate alla meditazione e al “dialogo con la natura”.

Per quanto riguarda la vita notturna del parco, è stato elaborato un progetto di lighting in collaborazione con Cristian Farnetani di G-Smart, che prevede l’utilizzo di diverse sorgenti luminose: dirette, indirette, d’accento, diffuse ed emozionali. 

L’idea dell’architetto era quella che si potesse ottenere un’illuminazione con sorgenti artificiali, che però ricordasse quella più romantica che si ha utilizzando la fiamma, quindi torce e candele. Così le sorgenti luminose dirette, dal raggio di luce contenuto, tendono a colpire le superfici della pavimentazione senza abbagliare chi stà camminando in prossimità, o in alcuni casi sono utilizzate incastonate nella pavimentazione con lo scopo di voler generare nel visitatore l’idea di percorrere un sentiero illuminato da piccole fiamelle che indicano il percorso senza voler prendere la scena; a tal proposito c’è stato un attento studio del punto luce da parte di Emanuele, che ha disegnato personalmente l’oggetto allo scopo di ottenere il miglior effetto possibile, risultato ottenuto soltanto dopo mesi di prove, disegni e studio di fattibilità con le aziende coinvolte.

L’illuminazione del verde in un contesto del genere diventa fondamentale, per questo la scelta di utilizzare la luce per enfatizzare la geometria del verde attraverso l’uso di proiettori e di lenti che potessero adattarsi e valorizzare al meglio le diverse specie botaniche presenti, donando al contesto “ un aspetto magico”.
