Historical apartment renewed in a early '900 eclectic palace in the centre of Turin, Italy.

The design themes work on colours match, material contrast and old meets new relationship.

The floor-plan has completely redesigned through new and big openings in order to open the focus on the living-room and kitchen, now being the central space of the flat. Vaults and floor are the trace to understand the previous layout. A new mosaic frame embrace the old restored parquet connecting the old timber to the new one.

The palette is a thrilling detail: the bordeaux colour of the mosaic matches with custom-made bookcase, designed to be a permeable wall between the entrance and the living-room, the cerulean blue works in contrast to the shades of brown of the floor and the bordeaux. This contrast gives brightness and balance.

The balance is also made through the shape of the kitchen furniture which plays the same as the openings and walls variation.

Between the kitchen and living-room there is a shiny brushed steel kitchen island that is a standing-solo volume connecting the spaces.

The new wall-painting shade melt into the vault highlighting the fresco.

The corridor in the middle of the apartment is thought as a dark background that gives depth to the opening on the living-room, and on the other side to the private space.

Ristrutturazione di un appartamento in un edificio dei primi del ‘900 in stile eclettico nel centro di Torino.
I temi progettuali sono l’accostamento cromatico e materico e la relazione antico – contemporaneo.
Lo spazio interno è stato riconfigurato completamente, vuoti e pieni come quinte teatrali incorniciano il salone e la cucina che diventano il fulcro centrale della casa.
I pavimenti diventano la traccia di lettura della conformazione precedente. Al centro i parquet preesistenti, recuperati e delimitati da una nuova cornice di mosaico in tinta con alcuni degli elementi d’arredo caratterizzanti il progetto.
La palette colori diventa elemento incisivo. La libreria bordeaux, disegnata ad hoc, crea una parete permeabile, costituendo un filtro tra l’ingresso e il salotto.

Il ceruleo della cucina, la cui orizzontalità si interrompe in corrispondenza dei muri e delle porte storiche che sono state mantenute, si contrappone ai toni scuri del rosso per creare luce ed equilibrio.
Al centro l’isola in acciaio spazzolato crea un volume imponente a cavallo tra gli ambienti della cucina e del salone.
Il colore delle pareti si fonde con quello dei soffitti voltati, mettendone in risalto le decorazioni.
Il corridoio che separa la zona giorno da quella notte, è stato trattato nuovamente come un fondale  tinto di un verde pesto molto scuro, in modo da dare profondità al resto dell’ambiente.
