One of the main premises of this project was the need to adapt existing buildings to contemporary housing standards, the fluidity between spaces and the connection with the outside, through large spans of the total size of the rooms. In areas with greater privacy exposure, balconies were proposed to ensure greater visual blocking from the outside of the lot. An attempt was made to establish a connection between the Porto City Park, located on the other side of Avenida da Boavista, and the project. For this same reason, the vegetative element is very present in this intervention.

On the ground floor, an open-space layout was chosen, as requested by the clients. This solution is characterized by the centralization of a functional space: the social sanitary installation with storage spaces and a more formal meeting space: the dining room, which together provide circulation around this nucleus. These transitions are guaranteed with sliding doors.

The materials were selected based on their durability and sustainability, these elements being natural, both in terms of flooring, wall coverings and exterior treatment. The exterior stairs leading to floor 0 are covered in raw Navona travertine natural stone and the entire floor on this floor, both exterior and interior, is made of raw Navona travertine sheets, allowing for continuity and connection between the interior-exterior space, which is reinforced. through the hidden window frames. Regarding the exterior, we start with the wall that borders Avenida da Boavista, which will be made of a metal grid with a coconut fiber interior and covered with low-maintenance plant cover.
