The assignment of the project was the total reform of this house to accommodate the new family that acquired it formed by a young couple with three children.
It was an apartment with the configuration of the time of its construction, a central corridor that leads from the entrance to the main facade and distributes the rooms, kitchen and bathrooms on both sides of it.
The main premises were to take full advantage of natural light and create connected and open spaces to share family moments to the maximum. Therefore we created this distribution that has the kitchen as the heart of the home, a completely open kitchen located in the center of the house sharing space with the living room and dining room, where all the rooms and services converge, thus eliminating any corridor and emphasizing the idea of shared spaces. In this way the natural light that previously did not pass from the living room now reaches every corner.
It also has 3 bedrooms, one double and two children's rooms where all the furniture has been created to measure (including the bunk bed) to maximize the space and have all the storage required by the type of family. It also has two complete bathrooms.
A characteristic point are the rounded corners, by not making corridors and seek to optimize the maximum spaces arose quite a few corners that are usually annoying to the eye, rounding them you create a sinuous contour that make a more friendly space. To emphasize it even more we also rounded the shelf of work that we did around the right perimeter that connects the living room and kitchen.
A lot of custom furniture was created to take advantage of the corners, such as the TV cabinet in the form of overlapping triangles or the corner study.
We were looking for a fresh and casual aesthetic for which we played with touches of color: For the kitchen we combined mint green for base units, oak wood for columns and country marble countertop, in the children's rooms we allowed ourselves to play with more vivid colors such as blue or the combination of mustard and maroon. The whole house shares the same pavement and baseboard in ivory microcement that provides a feeling of spaciousness and comfort, and for the two bathrooms we chose powdered pink microcement and furniture in the same tone.
