The Índigo cafe is located in Barcelona, at number 3 in Enrique Granados street.
When the clients contacted us to carry out a study of the project, we saw that what this space was asking for was to reduce visual noise, unify the different elements that make up the space and create a relaxed and comportable atmosphere.
The clients were very clear that the identity of their cafe was closely linked to the color Indigo, but they were not clear on how to capture it in the space. Our idea was to prevent it from appearing as sparse splashes, since that ran away from the objective that we had of simplifying. For this reason, it seemed to us a very powerful option to completely bathe a specific area of the local in indigo blue, tinting everything that was along the way wirh blue color.
Another point that we thought was essential to enhance is the original stone that we intuited existed behind the mural and immense layers of paint. Due to the location of the space and the type of architecture, we thought we would find an interesting stone, and after rummaging through the different layers of plaster and Paint, it appeared. The stone seemed to us a decorative element in itself and with a great role.
As for the tiles of the bar, we look for ocher and toasted tones that will remind us of coffee and everything that surrounds it.
In reference to the furniture and decoration, we sought to provide the warmth that the packaging lacked, for this reason we decided to use mainly wood, both for the tables and for the chairs, with the exception of the blue area where we lacquered the iron stools in the same color.
In reference to lighting, to provide that touch of warmth so longed for, we chose suspension lamps in the shape of
crystal ball that provided a warm light which linked the entire concept of interior design that we had imagined.
Finally, and to finish off the comfortable atmosphere, some dry holm oak trees were placed, whose branches and height were ideal for this type of venue, since they filled the space and decorated it without cluttering it up.
