Casa Attico | Atelier Matteo Arnone

In the north-east of Brazil, on the shore of São Miguel do Gostoso supported by the softest things: the wind and the clouds, rises Casa Attico, one of the recent and characteristic projects of Atelier Matteo Arnone. The influence of the morphology and its position connected to the wind has developed in the creator and client the will to imagine a new response to a completely new architectural solution. Therefore the core of the building rise just enough from the dunes in order to have the view of the sea and becomes a reference point for the landscape. Observing both sections and plans of the house, we understand the willing of Matteo Arnone to capture the natural ventilation that breaths all the year for the east side and drive the ventilation of every space of the house. On the ground floor the house is shaped as would be a wind machine. From the east side the wind enters to the patios and circulate geometrically according to the wall shapes, breaking the wind strength and ventilating the four symmetric bedrooms On the tower level the wind rises in between the two layers of the brickwork that composes the tower walls structure creating a natural ventilation of the façade. The central kitchen facing four different patios, controls from the centre of the ground floor, the symmetrical spaces creating the heart of the house and its living core. The kitchen is visually connected with the first floor by a circle opening to the living and office space. The more we rise the the more we get this private feeling of being isolated in the middle of the vast nature, till the last floor, a tiny space to admire the Landscape.

En el noreste de Brasil, a orillas de São Miguel do Gostoso, sostenida por el viento y las nubes, se alza la Casa Attico, un proyecto de Atelier Matteo Arnone.
El interés en la morfología, en el paisaje y en las fuerzas del viento han generado en el arquitecto la voluntad de imaginar una nueva respuesta y una solución arquitectónica completamente innovadora. Así, el núcleo del edificio se eleva lo suficiente desde las dunas para tener una vista del mar, convirtiéndose en un punto de referencia en el paisaje.

Al observar tanto las secciones como las plantas de la casa, se comprende la intención proyectual de captar la ventilación natural que sopla durante todo el año desde el este y dirigir la ventilación a cada espacio de la casa. En la planta baja, la casa está diseñada como si fuera una máquina de viento. Desde el lado este, el viento entra por los patios y circula geométricamente según la forma de los muros, rompiendo la fuerza del viento y ventilando los cuatro dormitorios simétricos. En el nivel de la torre, el viento asciende entre las dos capas de ladrillos que componen la estructura de las paredes de la torre, creando una ventilación natural en la fachada.

La cocina central da a cuatro patios diferentes y controla desde el centro de la planta baja los espacios simétricos, creando el corazón de la casa y su núcleo vital. La cocina está visualmente conectada con el primer piso a través de una apertura circular hacia la sala de estar y la oficina. Cuanto más subimos, más sentimos esta sensación privada de estar aislados en medio de la vasta naturaleza, hasta llegar al último piso, un pequeño espacio para admirar el paisaje.
