The Nelson Mandela Cultural Center plays an important role: the latest arrival in the heart of the district, it serves as the link between the other recently constructed buildings and the large housing estate whose entry gate it signals.

The building is composed of reinforced concrete throughout. This material's plastic potential has been used to build designs and abstract figures.
The large, thin, concrete shell of the façade clad with white earthenware tiles create the building's constantly changing abstract image depending on the vantage point from which it is viewed.
