Close friends with OM’s co-founders, the owner is a young entrepreneur living between Albino (near Bergamo) and Brussels. His apartment thus reflects the international spirit of those who live there. An uncluttered space in which the fine Brazilian marble of the kitchen block accompanies historic design elements by masters such as Enzo Mari, Vico Magistretti and Ettore Sottsass in a kind of small Wunderkammer at the heart of the Seriana Valley. The sum of many small custom details and refined finishes, such as the sink system and the stump bath, transforms the house’s atmosphere into an urban feeling, as if we were in central Milan. We are not talking about Milan in the 1990s, this project pays homage to the city of Milan in the 1960s and 1970s, to its culture and great design Maestri. Even the apartment building with its ornate marbles leads to the atmospheres of milanese entrances. With simplicity and clarity of thought, D096 becomes a sort of time travel machine in which to take refuge; from today to forty years ago, from Albino to Milan.

Il proprietario è caro amico dei co-fondatori di OM. Un giovane imprenditore che divide la sua vita tra Albino (in provincia di Bergamo) e Bruxelles; l’appartamento riflette così lo spirito internazionale di chi lo vive. Uno spazio ordinato, in cui il pregiato marmo Brasiliano del blocco cucina accompagna elementi di design storico di maestri quali Enzo Mari, Vico Magistretti e Ettore Sottsass in una specie di piccola Wunderkammer della Val Seriana. La somma di tanti piccoli dettagli su misura e lavorazioni ricercate, come il sistema del lavabo e il bagno in ceppo, trasforma l’atmosfera della casa in una sembianza cittadina, Milanese. Ma non della Milano da bere degli anni ‘90; la Milano dei Maestri e della cultura degli anni ‘60 e ‘70. Anche il condominio con i marmi decorati porta alle atmosfere degli ingressi Meneghini. Con semplicità e chiarezza di pensiero, D096 diventa quasi una macchina da viaggio spaziale e temporale in cui rifugiarsi; da oggi, a quarant’anni fa, da Albino a Milano.
