Some old stables sitting in the Ibizan rock transformed into a multifunctional space.

Situated in the mountain field of the Morna Valley in Ibiza, the Atelier is part of Ibiza Campo guesthouse, founded by Selina and Jurjen Van Hulzen.
It’s indeed in the rugged and authentic central northern part of the island that this private finca of 20 000 m² is established. It is composed of four houses, each one with its own identity and specific uses. Jurjen Van Hulzen, the founder of the architecture studio Ibiza Interiors renovated them one by one and enhanced their attributes.

Nestled between carob and orange trees, the Atelier is one of them and appears at the end of the path as a haven of peace. Its single-storey dry-stone structure is typical of Ibizan stables, but the two large openings of the main façade remind the designer's desire to give it a truly contemporary feel.
Thus, the first issue was to maintain the original character of this 200-year-old former stable: the old dry stone walls have been renovated, the wooden beams are highlighted by a white ceiling and the materials chosen are those traditionally used on the island. Here, textures and styles are not afraid to cohabit and the emphasis is on the interplay between old and contemporary, elegant and rustic. The whole forms a welcoming and functional space.
Being functional is the second ambition of the Atelier. Whether it's a home away from home, a gym, a workroom or a place to relax, this cosy nest adapts to the needs of the moment.
The choice of furniture allows this hybridity. In the main room, the modern kitchen is the only fixed element. The large wooden table functions as a dining table as well as a work space and can be moved to make space for sports equipment. On rainy afternoons, the room can be darkened thanks to the linen curtains and turned into a home cinema. It is possible to arrange poufs, armchairs and plaids and turn on the projector. In the bathroom, a large grey bathtub receives the sun's rays thanks to the skylight and in the bedroom, a wide built-in cupboard is a sign that the Atelier can be occupied for more than a single day…

Outside, time stands still and one marvels at the wild countryside of the island.
The landscaping was designed by Ibiza Exteriors, the new branch of Ibiza Interiors created by Jurjen Van Hulzen and Alicia Uldall. Here, stipas, aloe, rosemary and mastic trees are arranged as a continuation of the « campo ibizenco ». Only Mediterranean plants that are adapted to the island's climate and require little watering and maintenance are found here. Like the Atelier, the garden preserves the wild essence of this land and its genuine beauty.

The Atelier is finally a raw gem, a small space that sums up freedom, peacefulness and authenticity.
