Pipi | Smart Design Studio

Pipi is a beautifully sculpted building in the heart of Bondi Beach comprised of 29 apartments above ground floor retail. A rhythm in the street elevation is created in the contrast between the horizontal balcony spandrels and vertical battened screens. The angled glazing and
screens were a response to a heavily constrained site which required a clever solution to maximise on beach views from the apartments.
The material palette adopts coastal tones of offform concrete, white terracotta and light coloured brick. The refined, pared back detailing of the façade is carried through to the interiors with light-grey concrete ceilings, chalk-coloured floor tiles and whitewashed timber stairs. Warmth is introduced with myrtle flame timber veneer joinery and terracotta tiles in the bathrooms.
Setback from the street, is a two-storey penthouse with sweeping views over Bondi Beach and the ocean.
