An environmentally sustainable residential development is proposed, for a large rural block located near the NSW border.

The proposed three bedroom houses are designed in accordance with BAL (bushfire) requirements. The main structure is pre-fabricated and lined in corrugated steel, which pays homage to rural shearing sheds and Eldorado's renowned gold mining dredge.

A striking folded roof form is continuous and offset to reflect the surrounding hills, help encourage cross-flow ventilation and discourage the build-up of embers. The large overhangs help define outdoor areas and provide ample shading from harsh summer sun, plus collect rainwater for storage.

Colorbond steel is the preferred material used throughout for it's non-combustible properties and colour range to complement the surrounding environment. Natural bore water will provide a constant reliable source and solar power is also proposed for the new dwellings.
