In Lisbon's historic Chiado district, the haunt of writers and intellectuals in times gone by, a beautiful flat blends the contemporary style of Minotti's Made in Italy furnishing pieces with the charm of the romantic Belle Époque architecture that houses them.

Restored by the Portuguese architectural studio Openbook, Edificio São Carlos, located a short distance away from Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, bears witness to the resilience of the city of Lisbon following the 1755 earthquake. Its historic walls enshrine the beauty of a dwelling that harmoniously balances the demands of contemporary living with the heritage and charm of the past: the elegant stone framing the stained glass windows has been carefully preserved, as has the height of the exquisite ceilings, which elevates the sense of space and the sophistication of the design pieces chosen to furnish the rooms.

In the spacious apartment, bright dining and living areas alternate, characterised by a warm, convivial allure that welcomes the brand's new 2023 Collection, together with other iconic designs. 

The entrance leads to an initial living area, furnished with the modern, sinuous lines of the Raphael family of seats, designed by GamFratesi, which find their ideal setting among the elegant classical decorations, together with the softly rounded volume of the Torii Bold pouf by Nendo. The succession of curves is also repeated in the adjacent dining area, where the strong personality of the iconic Van Dyck table by Rodolfo Dordoni, in its round version, stands out in the centre, accompanied by the new Raphael dining little armchairs. 

A second, larger living area features the modular seating system Dylan Low, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni, which combines contemporary aesthetics with a more traditional taste, in line with the timeless atmosphere of the place, and is presented together with the Raphael family of seats. The lines of Dylan Low, characterised by a sophisticated density of sartorial details, are echoed in the Sally swivel armchair by Rodolfo Dordoni, which designs, together with the Brady coffee table, a refined reading or conversation corner, dedicated to relaxation.

Finally, the living room flows into a small oasis of peacefulness, hosting the soft asymmetrical curve of the Lars sofa, designed by Inoda+Sveje, together with the 1970s style of the Louver coffee table by Dordoni.

Among the avenues bristling with art and history of the Portuguese capital, the dialogue between the authenticity of the residence, which retains its original splendour, and the contemporary spirit that distinguishes Minotti's proposals is revealed in a combination of delicate colours and accurate material contrasts.

Restaurato dallo studio di architettura portoghese Openbook, l’Edificio São Carlos, a pochi passi dal Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, è testimone della resilienza della città di Lisbona dopo il terremoto del 1755 e le sue mura storiche custodiscono la bellezza di una dimora che bilancia armoniosamente le esigenze del vivere contemporaneo con l’eredità e il fascino del passato: l’elegante pietra che fa da cornice alle vetrate è stata conservata con cura, così come l’altezza dei preziosi soffitti, che eleva il senso di spazio e la raffinatezza dei pezzi di design scelti per arredare gli ambienti.

L’ampio appartamento alterna luminose aree dining e living, caratterizzate da un’allure calda e conviviale che danno il benvenuto alle novità della 2023 Collection del brand, unitamente a progetti iconici.

L’ingresso conduce a una prima zona living, arredata con le linee moderne e sinuose della famiglia di sedute Raphael, design GamFratesi, che trovano, tra le eleganti decorazioni classiche, la loro ambientazione ideale, insieme al volume morbidamente stondato del pouf Torii Bold di Nendo. Il susseguirsi di curve si ripete anche nell’adiacente area dining, in cui spicca al centro la forte personalità del tavolo iconico Van Dyck di Rodolfo Dordoni, nella versione rotonda, accompagnato dalle nuove poltroncine dining Raphael. 

Una seconda e più ampia area living vede come protagonista il sistema di sedute modulari Dylan Low, a firma Rodolfo Dordoni, che unisce un’estetica contemporanea a un gusto più tradizionale, in linea con l’atmosfera timeless del luogo, ed è presentato insieme alle sedute della famiglia Raphael. I segni di Dylan Low, contraddistinto da una sofisticata densità di dettagli sartoriali, sono ripresi nella poltrona girevole Sally di Rodolfo Dordoni, che disegna, insieme al tavolino Brady, un ricercato angolo lettura o conversazione, dedicato al relax.

Il living fluisce, infine, in una piccola oasi di tranquillità, che ospita la morbida curva asimmetrica del divano Lars, design Inoda+Sveje, insieme allo stile anni ’70 del tavolino Louver, a firma Dordoni.

Tra i viali ricchi di arte e storia della capitale portoghese, il dialogo tra l’autenticità della dimora, che conserva il suo originale splendore, e lo spirito contemporaneo che distingue le proposte Minotti si rivela in un connubio di cromie delicate e accurati contrasti materici.
