The state of the existing "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" school sports playground is compromised material wise and functionally. One of its most important elements, the flooring, is asphalt with cracks and sunken sections that collect rainwater - a prerequisite for tripping and injuries. The surrounding walls have compromised plaster, creating a dangerous, unpleasant and unsightly environment. The metal fences are amortized, with rust and breaks in the net, endangering the users of the site.

Beyond the identified problems, the existing sports playground is built in contradiction to modern understanding of an adequate learning environment - it lacks specialized sports flooring and marking, functional areas for students to use with curiosity, imagination and enthusiasm, also modern sports equipment, safety and visual identity.

MULTI-SPORT is a project for renovating the existing playground and transforming it into an outdoor multifunctional sports centre with a new functional program that addresses every sports aspect in student's everyday life. The project offers numerous ways to engage with sport – gaining sports knowledge, playing sports games, warming-up, stretching, flexibility and agility zones, spots for socializing while playing.

The central element of the project proposal is the newly built sports field with equipment and markings for football, volleyball and basketball. 5 additional zones enriching the standard physical education curriculum are located on its periphery.

Warm Up zone

An amphitheater podium is built in the center of the area. With its 5 steps of 15cm each, the volume provides space for warming up. Adjacent infographics, mounted on the fence, show appropriate warm-up exercises using steps. The stepped structure consists of 2 levels, suitable for watching sports, recreation, and socialization.

Endurance zone

The zone occupies the area of the playground northern wall, providing an opportunity for exercises that strengthen the muscles. Adjacent infographics show ways to perform muscle exercises by leaning against the wall. Ropes, resembling a Swedish wall, are mounted on the wall. There are also battle ropes for strength training.

Agility zone

The area includes different wall games with medicine, tennis and sports balls, developing agility, accuracy and coordination. The area is completed by an "agility ladder", outlined in the pavement.

Flexibility zone

The zone represents a vertical facility that includes elements laid out in a maze-like fashion that students can navigate through by climbing. The three-dimensional construction is completely enclosed within 2 independent meshes that provide protection against falling and injury.

Stretching zone

The zone provides a free space, which is intended for stretching at the end of the physical education activities. It Includes infographics highlighting the benefits of exercise, as well as suggestions for post-workout stretching and exercise.
