Patent model

Consisting of a spherical seat and a wrap-around backrest. The armchair rests on a swivel base. The shape is inspired by some design research of the 1960s/70s in which ergonomics, welcoming sensations and the careful use of materials gave rise to seating for reading, listening to music and waiting, offering superior comfort.

The overall concept is to sit and remain suspended, supported gently by the backrest. The planetarium with its spherical shape, the ancient charts of the sky and the sun with the rotation of the planets on their axis and the red circle of the sun, represent the starting points of this creative journey.

From a formal point of view, the research focused on a few focal points: - Maintaining the spherical shape by subtracting its elementary appearance and correcting, with variations of the diagonals, the distorting optical effects. - Integrating the backrest into the base, maintaining its visual independence and expressing it as a neutral but logical extension. - Creating the perception that the coloured upholstery extends to the entire hemisphere, trapped in the base like a planet on which one can sit. - Careful ergonomics in relation to its function as a reading armchair: specific seat and backrest angles (13° and 6° respectively), lumbar support, tapering of the upper part of the backrest to allow free movement of the neck, rotation of the armchair by
