This 1970s bungalow located in Southwest Germany on the boarder to both Switzerland and France, has undergone a stunning transformation. Spearheaded by the interior design studio ZWEI Design, every aspect of the home has been refurbished, from the electrical and plumbing systems to the floors, ceilings, and walls. Our aim was to seamlessly blend modern European design with the clean lines found in Japanese minimalism, all while honouring the home's 1970s roots. Notably, the project's unique touch lies in the transformation of often overlooked elements into focal points, such as the incorporation of bronze door knobs, solid metal light switches from Jung’s 1912 series or installing a parquet frieze along the walls to encase the chevron parquet. An integral part of our vision was to enhance the existing space rather than demolishing it, preserving its original character while infusing it with contemporary functionality. Additionally by incorporating vintage designer furniture, we not only added value to these pre-loved pieces but also infused the space with a sense of history and design significance. This conscious choice not only promotes sustainable design practices but also fosters an appreciation of iconic design movements. The result is a cohesive fusion of warm, earthy tones, modern furniture, and carefully curated décor, creating an inviting ambiance that marries comfort with sophistication. The interplay of light and shadows throughout the space accentuates the seamless flow between rooms, presenting a narrative that celebrates both the home's past and its contemporary, family-focused transformation.
