Beautifully perched around a pond in the coastal city of Halmstad in Sweden, these contemporary cabins are created with a sleek, stripped-down architecture and being adapted with special consideration given to the surrounding natural features and topography. We used simple and everyday materials as natural-coloured pine wood has been boiled in linseed oil which gives an environmentally friendly and durable board. The timber façades will age with the property so that they mature over time, providing a rich texture of weathered finishes. The three dimensionally panelized structure of the 40-square metre cabins was assembled on-site. Each of the ten structures has a generous private terrace, some of which slightly jut out into the water, taking full advantage of its sunny west facing location and the verdant surroundings and views. The terraces have been masked into the façade with dense wooden panels on the sides. Being in perfect balance with its environment the roof is covered with a bed of a variety of sedum plants.

Providing accommodation for golfers and vacationers all cabins have a simple but functional concept. Intended for short-term stays, the compact layout features bedrooms, bathroom, and a living room/dining/kitchen space with a large glazing that maximise and bring natural light into the interiors as well as leading out to the central terrace. The ocher-colored entrance door creates contrast and a warm atmosphere in the interior. Inside, the rooms are themed and plays on “ocean” and “grass”, were shades of blue and green contrasts against dark tones in black and anthracite with the warmth from oak flooring. Great care went into selecting the furnishings and decor.
