Casa Interstici | NØRA studio

Located on the same street of the church of Muro, Mallorca, a three-story house with a marès façade emerges that, overall, present great potential. The interior is characterized by a neutral palette of colors, predominantly beige, brown and orange, which gain life when sunlight highlights the stone of the walls and wood of the floors.

The main volume of the structure rises as the centerpiece of the project, orchestrating a rehabilitation process that encompasses three fundamental actions: emptying, filling and completing. The interaction between materials plays a crucial role in this work, where sandstone, the local stone, and steel, an inseparable material from the customer's life, form a relationship of contrasts of lights, textures and tones, merging the new with the old.

Upon entering the house, a service module creates a circulation connecting the studio and main hall, both featuring double-high games. In the living room, our eyes are attracted to the highest point, where natural light inundates space. Here, the double height of the living room expands, connecting with different levels across the stairs, revealing hidden spaces between the openings.

The visual continuity throughout the project is achieved by intermediates floors that house areas of distribution and service, serving as observation points to appreciate the interaction of heights. These new floors seek to establish a material link with the renewed outer volume, creating notable views of the roof, the skylight and the variety of materials used.

On the back facade, where previously there was simply a small room attached to the volume, now lies both the main suite and the kitchen and dinning room. This new volume is distinguished from the preexisting structure, using the staircase as a separation element and creating a sense of elevation. The continuity of the floor both inside and outside clears the boundaries between the spaces, emphasizing the presence of the upper volume.

Ubicada en la misma calle de la iglesia de Muro, Mallorca, emerge una casa de tres plantas con una fachada de marés que, en su conjunto, presentan un gran potencial. El diseño interior se caracteriza por una paleta de colores neutros, predominantemente beiges, marrones y naranjas, que cobran vida cuando la luz del sol resalta la piedra de las paredes y la madera de los forjados.

El volumen principal de la estructura se erige como la pieza central del proyecto, orquestando un proceso de rehabilitación que abarca tres acciones fundamentales: vaciar, rellenar y completar. La interacción entre materiales desempeña un papel crucial en esta obra, donde el marés, la piedra autóctona, y el acero, un material inseparable de la vida del cliente, dan forma a una relación de contrastes de luces, texturas y tonalidades, fusionando lo nuevo con lo antiguo.

Al ingresar a la casa, un módulo de servicios crea una circulación que conecta el estudio y el salón principal, ambos presentando juegos de dobles alturas. En la zona del salón, nuestros ojos son atraídos hacia el punto más alto, donde la luz natural inunda el espacio. Aquí, la doble altura del salón se expande, conectándose con diferentes niveles a través de las escaleras, revelando espacios ocultos entre las aberturas.

La continuidad visual a lo largo del proyecto se logra mediante forjados intermedios que albergan áreas de distribución y servicio, sirviendo como puntos de observación para apreciar la interacción de alturas. Estos nuevos forjados buscan establecer un vínculo material con el volumen exterior renovado, creando vistas destacadas de la cubierta, el tragaluz y la variedad de materiales utilizados.

En la fachada posterior, donde antes simplemente había una pequeña sala anexa al volumen, ahora se encuentra tanto la suite principal como la cocina-comedor. Este nuevo volumen se distingue de la estructura preexistente, utilizando la escalera como elemento de separación y creando una sensación de elevación. La continuidad del pavimento tanto en el interior como en la exterior borra los límites entre los espacios, enfatizando la presencia del volumen superior.
