A family of 7.

This family acquires this property on the outskirts of Pontevedra to replace their current home.

The house has a conservative and highly compartmentalized configuration. The work to be carried out requires a redistribution exercise of the entire space with the optimization of the existing elements in the home, that is, due to the dimensions and magnitude of the reform to be carried out, it is necessary to try to preserve elements that are in good condition and look for materials that combine well with these.

A more contemporary operation and aesthetics are sought. To achieve this, more open spaces are introduced with current materials, such as microcement, which is used in bathrooms and is joined to some floors of the same material in rooms and bathrooms.

The transformation is based on working with existing materials and the introduction of a measured palette of materials that give a singular and homogeneous image to the entire intervention.

The home is transformed through the dialogue of new materials with existing materials. To do this, a large mass of black wood is introduced that invades the common communication spaces, and different materials are occasionally applied in more specific rooms.

One of the first actions is to conserve the existing floor. For this, the gap left by the partitions when they are eliminated must be solved, therefore, the space left by these walls on the floor is occupied with leveling paste, thus leaving a record of the pre-existence.

Where this situation is most evident is on the ground floor where a united space of hall, living room and kitchen is generated. Likewise, in the main room where by removing the partitions a bedroom, dressing room and bathroom space is projected. Here the wood is stained black to combine chromatically with the elements introduced.

Lighting takes on a lot of prominence through elements that illuminate architectural elements to highlight and lighting pieces provided by the property that add personality to the project.
