The Young Neruda House Museum in Temuco is an architectural space that aims to connect visitors with the poet's memory through a continuous journey around a central courtyard. This courtyard features a tree that evokes Neruda's memory when he used to gaze at a similar tree from his window, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the poetic universe of the writer.

The north facade of the building stands out with its colorful stained glass windows, reminiscent of the multicolored hues of the beetle, an insect that deeply influenced the young Pablo Neruda. These stained glass windows refract sunlight throughout the day, creating a light and shadow effect that adds to the magical and dreamlike atmosphere of the place.

The interior courtyard, on the other hand, allows visitors to stay in constant contact with nature, the forest, and the rain. The sound of rain on the roof and the scent of wet earth and wood transport visitors to a poetic world where nature is an endless source of inspiration.

The tour of the museum house begins on the first level around the central courtyard, connecting various exhibition rooms. In each space, personal objects of Neruda, such as toys, books, photographs, letters, and other items, are displayed, allowing visitors to learn more about his life and work.

The museum has an architectural design that incorporates natural and recycled elements into its construction. The building's facade is constructed using recycled railroad sleepers, which serve as a solar control system using brise-soleil logic. Additionally, railroad tracks have been embedded in the pavement of the rear courtyard, referencing the poet's relationship with his father, who worked for the railways. These elements were present during Neruda's childhood and have been incorporated into the design to commemorate his history.

The goal is to bring culture to the community through reading spaces and access to national literature and poetry. Reading areas and exhibition spaces with literary works by national and international authors and materials related to the life and work of the Chilean poet have been set up. The creation of a physical and virtual library is proposed, offering access to digital books on tablets and search and navigation tools, with the aim of expanding access to information and culture.

The project has been designed to respect the continuity of the urban facade by setting it back at the access level. Additionally, the opening of the first level during the day suggests that it could be a public or commercial space aimed at enriching street life. On the other hand, to ensure the building's security at night, a closure composed of perforated metal panels has been proposed.

The first courtyard, located in the center of the site, has a circular shape and serves as the central axis of the museum's tour. This courtyard is the starting point of the journey, gradually ascending around the landscaping, allowing visitors to appreciate the museographic exhibition through different rooms connected by projected images and objects. This continuous journey connects the different levels gradually and imperceptibly, making it accessible to all types of people.

On the second level, there is an exhibition room for objects, while on the third level, there is a reading room and a library. The tour culminates with a double height space where visitors can observe a boat suspended in the sky, floating dramatically in space. The return allows visitors to contemplate the central tree that accompanies the journey constantly, connecting with nature and rain, evoking, through the spiral journey, the Poet's passion for the sea and the geometry of seashells.

The second courtyard is located in the southern area of the site and is articulated by a service volume that ends on its last level with a collaborative work administrative office. On the first level, there is a café with souvenir sales that opens onto the rear courtyard. This courtyard preserves existing trees and culminates in a large mosaic mural dedicated to the poet.

A reinforced concrete perimeter structure is considered to serve as a firebreak with neighboring buildings, while the interior is designed as a wooden structure from the region, using a system of pillars and beams arranged radially with the central axis of the museum, the courtyard. This materiality represents the memory of the Poet in his childhood land, Temuco, along with evoking the aromas and sounds described by him in his works.

The Young Neruda House Museum in Temuco is a space that seeks to honor and remember the life and work of the poet while integrating into the natural surroundings of the region. Its architectural design and the recycled elements incorporated into its construction give it a unique and special character. Furthermore, its commitment to culture and literature makes it open to the community, where people can enjoy and learn about the history and poetry of Chile, thus becoming a fundamental landmark on the Pablo Neruda Heritage Route.

La Casa Museo Joven Neruda en Temuco es un espacio arquitectónico que busca conectar al visitante con la memoria del poeta a través de un recorrido continuo en torno a un patio central. Este patio cuenta con un árbol que recuerda la memoria de Neruda cuando miraba desde su ventana un árbol similar, lo que permite al visitante sumergirse en el universo poético del escritor.

La fachada norte del edificio se destaca por sus vitrales de colores, que rememoran los multicolores del escarabajo, un insecto que marcó profundamente al joven Pablo Neruda. Estos vitrales refractan los rayos solares durante el transcurso del día, generando un efecto de luces y sombras que aporta a la atmósfera mágica y onírica del lugar.

El patio interior, por su parte, permite al visitante estar en constante contacto con la naturaleza, el bosque y la lluvia. El sonido de la lluvia en el tejado y el aroma de la tierra mojada y la madera transportan al visitante a un mundo poético, en el que la naturaleza es una fuente inagotable de inspiración.

El recorrido por la casa museo se inicia en el primer nivel en torno al patio central, recorrido el cual comunica diferentes salas de exposición. En cada espacio, se exhiben objetos personales de Neruda, como juguetes, libros, fotografías, cartas y otros objetos que permiten conocer más acerca de su vida y obra.

El Museo tiene un diseño arquitectónico que busca integrar elementos naturales y reciclados en su construcción. La fachada del edificio se construye con durmientes de tren reciclados, lo que aporta como sistema de control solar mediante la lógica del brise-soleil. Además, en el pavimento del patio trasero se han embutido rieles de tren, que hacen referencia a la relación del poeta con su padre, quien fue funcionario de ferrocarriles. Estos elementos estuvieron presentes durante la infancia de Neruda y se han incorporado al diseño para recordar su historia.

Se propone como objetivo acercar la cultura a la comunidad a través de espacios de lectura y acceso a la literatura y poesía nacional. Se han habilitado sectores de lectura y áreas de exposición con obras literarias de autores nacionales e internacionales y material relacionado con la vida y obra del poeta chileno. Se plantea la creación de una biblioteca física y virtual que ofrecerá acceso a libros digitales en tabletas y herramientas de búsqueda y navegación, con el objetivo de ampliar el alcance y el acceso a la información y la cultura

El proyecto ha sido diseñado para respetar la continuidad de la fachada urbana, mediante su retranqueo en el nivel de acceso. Además, se ha previsto la apertura del primer nivel durante el día, lo que sugiere que podría tratarse de un espacio público o comercial destinado a enriquecer la vida de la calle. Por otra parte, para garantizar la seguridad del edificio durante la noche, se ha propuesto un cerramiento compuesto por paneles metálicos perforados.

El primer patio, ubicado en el centro del terreno, tiene una forma circular y funciona como eje central del recorrido del museo. Este patio es el punto de partida del recorrido, que sube gradualmente en torno al paisajismo, y que permite al visitante apreciar la exhibición museográfica a través de distintas salas, conectadas por imágenes proyectadas y objetos, este recorrido continuo permite conectar los distintos niveles de una manera paulatina e imperceptible, lo cual permite su accesibilidad por todo tipo de personas.

En el segundo nivel, se encuentra una sala de exposición de objetos, mientras que en el tercer nivel se encuentra una sala de lectura y biblioteca. El recorrido culmina con una doble altura en la que se puede observar un bote colgado del cielo, flotando de manera dramática en el espacio. El regreso permite al visitante contemplar el árbol central que acompaña el recorrido constantemente, conectando con la naturaleza y la lluvia, evocando a través del recorrido espiral, la pasión del Poeta con el mar y la geometría de las conchas marinas.

El segundo patio se encuentra en la zona sur del terreno y está articulado por un volumen de servicios que remata en su último nivel con una oficina administrativa de trabajo colaborativo. En el primer nivel se encuentra una cafetería con venta de souvenirs, que se abre hacia el patio trasero. Este patio rescata los árboles existentes y remata en un gran mural de mosaico dedicado al poeta.

Se considera una estructura perimetral de hormigón armado, que sirva como muro cortafuego con los vecinos, mientras que el interior está planteado como una estructura de madera de la zona, a través de un sistema de pilares y vigas dispuestas de manera radial concéntricas con el eje central del museo, el patio. Esta materialidad representa el recuerdo del Poeta en su tierra de la infancia, Temuco, junto con evocar los aromas y sonidos descritos por él mismo en sus obras.

La Casa Museo Joven Neruda en Temuco es un espacio que busca honrar y recordar la vida y obra del poeta, al mismo tiempo que se integra en el entorno natural de la región. Su diseño arquitectónico y los elementos reciclados que se han incorporado en su construcción le otorgan un carácter único y especial. Además, su compromiso con la cultura y la literatura lo convierte en un espacio abierto a la comunidad, en el que se puede disfrutar y aprender de la historia y la poesía de Chile, transformándose de esta manera en un hito fundamental en la Ruta Patrimonial Huellas de Pablo Neruda.
