Linhai Yufengli Boutique Hotel | LYCS Architecture

Yufengli Hotel is a 4,000-square-meter renovation project in the ancient town of Fucheng, Linha, designed by LYCS Architecture from architecture, interior, furnishing to VI design. It's located at Chicheng Road's old street entrance. The hotel includes a 100-year-old courtyard, two 60-year-old brick industrial buildings, and two 30-year-old warehouses.

Faced with the simultaneous existence of three different generations of buildings spanning a hundred years of history, the architects raised a question. How can the intervention of new renovation allow the dialogue between old and new, tradition and future, to create a unique living space experience? This question is not only the core thinking of this project but also a further exploration of new living and urban renewal models by LYCS Architecture.

A "time and space corridor" that juxtaposes the historical legacy of buildings from different eras
The design uses a "time corridor" concept, connecting buildings from three historical eras. The 100-year-old courtyard is carefully restored, preserving "pawnshop" details. The 60-year-old industrial heritage is preserved, with new uses added for a dramatic spatial dialogue. The 20-year-old warehouse has rusty metal panels, giving a modern atmosphere. The three eras interweave, creating a "time and space corridor" with different historical voices.

Expanding the public functions of the hotel into an extension of urban street life
The renovation design of the courtyard is based on the preservation of the status quo, so that it can be used as a B&B public area and at the same time become a "city living room" open to city residents and tourists. The "city living room" integrates the original split urban public activities, which can be used internally as a boutique hotel and enhance the added value of the living facilities. It is also open to the city, becoming a gathering place for people's activities, gatherings, friendships and studies. It is also important to ensure the privacy and exclusivity of the B&B area through the partition management of the public area and the B&B area.

Living space experience centered on user behavior
The guest room interior design focuses on user behavior instead of traditional hotel "living" functions. Each room offers an experience themed around different historical eras. The design exposes the old building's wooden structure, dividing the space and setting the tone. Modern furniture complements the space. Wooden rafters and stone tiles open to the sky, letting in natural light and creating an "under the stars" experience within the century-old history.

The unique charm generated by the contrast between the old and the new is cleverly configured
The guest rooms' interior in the 1960s building follows the renovation strategy and atmosphere. It combines modern elements with the traditional structure. The historic brick and concrete structure is preserved. The main living function is placed in the room's center, providing users with ample space for a white space experience.

The 90's architecture rooms have traditional elements selectively refined and transformed into local details. Wood-colored spaces are used to create a modern and cozy atmosphere. This design caters to users seeking a stylish and simple living experience.
