The project builds the penthouse floor of a fine modernist building designed by Arch. Sergio Invernizzi in 1962. The addition has an area of about 250 square meters and houses two independent apartments that occupy half of the covered area of the building, leaving space for large terraces. The volume is structured as a "portal" arranged longitudinally to the front of the building and, like the apartments below, houses the service spaces on the east side and the day spaces on the west. A small patio "breaks" the symmetry of the east front by reproducing and recalling small asymmetries present in the front below.
The south-facing apartment is structured around two elements: a volume clad in maple wood that houses inside service spaces to the house, dividing the sleeping area from the living area, and a large paper painted by Alessandro Verdi, mounted on a sliding frame that modulates the size of the living spaces, expanding them into a large open space in one case, isolating the kitchen in the opposite case. Finally, the material choices of the house, extremely neutral, recall the material of the modernist building. Concrete, wood and white surfaces are the background to furnishings, mostly salvaged, chromatically and stylistically heterogeneous.
