When the workplace becomes a landing pad. Owingen / Germany
The past two years have caused many companies to rethink. Where everything used to be static and stuck in office-conform order, work is now done in structures that promote communication and are adaptable. This is also the case at the Klöber company near Lake Constance. "We want a working world in which we meet each other," is how the seating furniture manufacturer formulated its concern.
The feeling for the corporate identity with its values and history should be tangible for all employees. The aim is to take the team with them into a shared future in which exchange and lively togetherness are encouraged. Even if it means that not everyone has their own traditional workplace. First and foremost, the managing director, who has dissolved his office and instead works on his laptop in the Workcafé. In such an agitated work architecture, it is all the more important to give employees a place to dock. That's why the entire reception area at Klöber, with its coffee counter and seating, was designed as a meeting place where people can meet and talk. At Klöber, they call this place Landing Place.
The desks themselves, reduced in number by around two-thirds, are zoned into quieter work areas by furniture that is almost floor-to-ceiling. Even the lighting concept supports the new room concept at Klöber. With Vibia's extremely flexible Plusminus system, the luminaires and spotlights can be changed and adapted to the situation at any time.
Margarete Klöber, who founded the company in 1935, was way ahead of her time.
"The freedom to sit better is the art of feeling comfortable at work"
,she knew even then. With her courageous attitude and joyful spirit of discovery, she continues to shape the company's values today. And these can be felt everywhere in the remodeled office. The restrained materials - such as the brushed oak wood and the black through-dyed HDF boards - create a homey atmosphere, and the room-dividing furniture serves like little museum islands where historical models can be discovered, and also as creative corners where tinkering and sampling take place. Where fabrics, sketches and designs can be found.
The seating area in the café is adorned by a large-scale photograph on perforated metal. The way it is made is such that the image initially appears atmospheric. Only on closer inspection does one recognize the actual motif - the landing site on Lake Constance - and in it the company's pride in its origins and production location. With its dynamically round symbol, the Klöber company logo subtly draws attention to the fact that sitting should never be rigid, but should take place in ergonomic movement. This approach, which also describes the company's thinking - never rigid, always in motion - is figuratively represented as the central information point in the Workcafé.
