Artworks, especially conceptual art, are human attempts to create a new understanding of our surroundings. When this effort is combined with the conceptual art of structure, better results are obtained. The aesthetic concept of artwork to instill a sense of suspense and excellence towards the heavens (dome) required the use of narrow chains in the design. The columns had to resist Euler buckling, and semi-rigid connections that guarantee lateral stability had to be concealed. Providing a proper foundation of chains to transfer loads to the ground needed great care due to the executive tolerances. Considering a multipart structure consisting of side walls was so important because the structure must be frequently transported, installed, and uninstalled in many galleries.
