HOPE | Gloria Ronchi Light Artist
Light Art Durham / United Kingdom / 2018
‘HOPE’ is a large-scale text sculpture featuring dozens of programmed colour-changing LED tubes precisely arranged, for exploring the emotive power and the possibilities attached to words and feelings.
Hope is empowering: it gives us the motivation to pursue desires and opportunities. It is woven into the very fabric of human history; hope is what fuels personal growth as well as social and civil progress.
The three-dimensional geometric shapes cast complex luminous forms in the immediate surroundings, creating an immersive emotional landscape and uncovering sensorial perceptions.
Commissioned by Durham County Council and curated by Lucy Jenkins, to commemorate WWI centenary.
