Sanlorenzo, a pioneering shipyard in the responsible development of the yachting sector, returns to the FuoriSalone in Milan with a project that narrates, in a sophisticated and subtle way, the future of the propulsion of the yachts.

At Design Week 2023, as part of the INTERNI DESIGN RE-EVOLUTION exhibition-event at the University of Milan, Sanlorenzo presents LA MACCHINA IMPOSSIBILE, an installation by Piero Lissoni that interprets the shipyard's relentless pursuit of technologically innovative solutions to reduce the yachting environmental impact.

La Macchina Impossibile is an imposing metal sculpture: a complex machine that is highly technological but defined in detail by skilful manual work, just like a yacht. Positioned in the centre of the 18th-century Courtyard, the entire structure rests on a platform that enhances its mechanism made of propellers and serrated wheels. These move thanks to new hydrogen from green methanol system that Sanlorenzo is developing for the propulsion of its boats in collaboration with Siemens Energy, based on the use of combined reformer/fuel cell modules. This technology will power the on-board services on yachts between 24 and 73 metres in length, from 2024 on the new 50Steel. This cutting-edge project will represent the first concrete step towards the generation of carbon-neutral power from new-generation fuels for the entire sector, making Sanlorenzo an absolute forerunner on the road to sustainable yachting.

In the context of the ensemble exhibition Design Re-Evolution, the theme of which investigates Evolutionary Thinking as a tool for designing known and unknown, physical and digital, contemporary and futuristic territories, Sanlorenzo inserts itself with a project that looks to the future and expresses a new, positive interaction between human beings and the environment.

Sanlorenzo, cantiere pioniere nel percorso di sviluppo responsabile nel settore dello yachting, torna al FuoriSalone di Milano con un progetto che racconta, in modo sofisticato e sottile, il futuro della propulsione delle imbarcazioni da diporto.

Alla Design Week 2023, nell’ambito della mostra-evento INTERNI DESIGN RE-EVOLUTION presso l’Università degli Studi di Milano, Sanlorenzo presenta LA MACCHINA IMPOSSIBILE, un’installazione di Piero Lissoni che interpreta l’incessante ricerca portata avanti dal cantiere verso soluzioni tecnologicamente innovative per ridurre l’impatto ambientale dello yachting.

La macchina impossibile è una imponente scultura metallica: una macchina complessa, altamente tecnologica ma definita nei dettagli da un sapiente lavoro manuale proprio come uno yacht. Posizionata al centro del Cortile del ‘700, l’intera struttura poggia su una piattaforma che esalta un meccanismo realizzato con eliche e ruote dentellate. Queste si muovono grazie al nuovo sistema a idrogeno da metanolo verde, che Sanlorenzo sta sviluppando per la propulsione delle proprie imbarcazioni in collaborazione con Siemens Energy, basato sull’impiego di moduli combinati di reformer/fuel cell. Questa tecnologia verrà impiegata per l’alimentazione dei servizi di bordo su yacht tra 24 e 73 metri di lunghezza, a partire dal 2024 sul nuovo 50Steel. Questo progetto di assoluta avanguardia rappresenterà il primo passo concreto nella generazione di potenza carbon neutral, originata da combustibili di nuova generazione per l’intero settore, portando Sanlorenzo a ricoprire il ruolo di assoluto apripista nella strada verso la nautica sostenibile.

Nel contesto della mostra corale Design Re-Evolution, il cui tema indaga il Pensiero Evolutivo come strumento per progettare territori conosciuti e sconosciuti, fisici e digitali, contemporanei e futuribili, Sanlorenzo si inserisce con un progetto che guarda al futuro e che esprime una nuova, positiva interazione tra essere umano e ambiente.
