Bisque is Europe’s newest golf retailer here to break through the sport’s conservative clique and stiff wardrobe to make it more inclusive. The brainchild of three golf enthusiasts with an eye for fashion, Bisque brings a progressive clothing and footwear collection together where urban energy and golf performance intersect.

The brief was to steer away from the predictable golf aesthetic to create a welcoming space where golf fans of all levels can connect and find something stylish. They wanted that gentlemen’s club polish, without the snobbery, and Rapha’s community vibe, but for golf; and it had to be visually striking to appeal to the sport’s new fashion-conscious and youthful demographic.

With a narrow shopfront measuring at only 85 sqm (915 sq. ft), the team had to carefully balance product merchandising, impactful aesthetics, and functional ease for events. They started with the design approach: a stylized, abstract interpretation of golf. When you step inside, you’re faced with a layout that resembles a fairway. Handcrafted Koyohen Raven tiles imitate the green and flow up the walls and across the mezzanine bar to create a surface that rises and falls, much like a golf course.

Repetition creates a sophisticated visual rhythm throughout the store. The walls alternate between mirror and timber panels, which are divided by upside-down golf clubs that also function as clothing rods. The hanging displays save space for events, while the mirrors make the store look more extensive than the square meters. Unpolished brass lighting rods are also repeated to strengthen the store lighting for events. Working together, this combination ensures the space is always event and retail ready.

Every design decision has the consumer at heart. The shop window helps pedestrians catch a glimpse of what’s inside, but is kept free of displays to make the window a chill-out zone. The bar on the mezzanine is lined with a velvet topper to comfortably try sneakers or enjoy a coffee.

Just like the sport itself, details count. This unique design was brought to life with premium materials with nearly all furnishings custom-made. One example is the sustainable Koyohen Raven tiles mentioned earlier. They’re handcrafted using traditional techniques and are known for their strength, durability, and frost resistance—all beneficial for the Dutch climate. The other is the unpolished brass counter: a raw material that’s bold and takes you back to the allure of a private club.

Golf, just like the streetwear scene, is about appreciating the finer things in life. The new Bisque store is a physical manifestation of that wrapped in a smart, functional design that keeps the golf community at heart.
