Nature within reach of the city

Our proposal is an invitation to citizens to question themselves about their city, which suggests within it a possible response.

By putting the city in the mirror, he wants to push its citizens to stop to reflect on their condition within the urban habitat, and on the effects that this habitat has on all of us. wondering if there’s something we left out while we chose how to build the environment in which to live.

A small door invites you to browse if behind this pure geometric shape there is a possible alternative to the landscape that reflects. 

Inside the cabin offers a welcoming but immersive natural environment, to live in intimacy, where you can spend some time in the carefree childhood, in a protective shell that keeps out the evils of the modern city, and that reconnects us with ourselves and with nature.

 The Shinrin-yoku Urban Cabin

Our project takes its name from the "Shinrin-yoku"; literally "benefiting from the atmosphere of the forest", but more commonly translated as "baths in the forest". It is a Japanese practice that consists in abandoning nature and being reconciled with it in order to get the psychophysical benefits, moreover widely documented by recent scientific research.

The ‘cabin’ houses a small vertical garden and a swing; it is, in fact, the pendular movement of the swing that drives the project’s clean geometric form: in the longitudinal direction it is a semicircle, and in the transverse direction an A-shape relative to the location of the seated human body.

At the end with this cabin we aspire, at best, to stimulate a debate on the city, but the project fully fulfils its duty even simply giving a fifteen-hour escape to one citizen at a time

La natura a portata di città

Il bando di costruire una cabina urbana capace di riconnettere i cittadini di una megalopoli come Tokyo con la natura, il circostante, e quindi con sé stessi. A patto che questa cabina fosse facilmente trasportabile, che non superasse i 6 m² e che fosse quindi concepita per essere facilmente posizionata in ogni angolo della città. 

La nostra proposta progettuale è un invito ai cittadini ad interrogarsi sul proprio ambiente urbano, che allude, al suo interno, ad una possibile risposta.

Ponendo la città allo specchio, si vuole spingere i suoi cittadini, innanzitutto, a soffermarsi per riflettere sulla propria condizione all'interno dell'habitat urbano, e sugli effetti che questo habitat ha su tutti noi; a chiedersi se c’è qualcosa che abbiamo lasciato fuori mentre sceglievamo come costruire l’ambiente in cui vivere. 

La Shinrin-yoku Urban Cabin

Lo “Shinrin-yoku”; letteralmente “trarre giovamento dell'atmosfera della foresta”, ma più comunemente tradotto come “bagni nella foresta”. è una pratica giapponese che consiste nell'abbandonarsi alla natura e riconciliarsi con essa per trarne dei benefici psico fisici, per giunta ampiamente documentati da recenti ricerche scientifiche.

Una piccola porta posta sul lato corto invita a curiosare se dietro questa forma geometrica pura ci sia una possibile alternativa al paesaggio che riflette. 

Al suo interno la cabina offre un immersivo ambiente naturale, da vivere in intimità. Le pareti ospitano in verticale un microambiente verde, e tra queste vi è un’altalena. È proprio il movimento di quest’ultima che guida il progetto verso una forma semicircolare, che poggia leggera sul terreno.

In conclusione, con questa cabina aspiriamo, nella migliore delle ipotesi, a stimolare un dibattito sulla città, ma il progetto assolve pienamente il suo dovere anche semplicemente regalando un quarto d’ora di evasione ad un cittadino alla volta.
