Casa Mateo | Zozaya Arquitectos

Casa Mateo is located in one of the highest points of the Punta Garrobo development in Zihuatanejo. The east and west views towards the Pacific Ocean and the cliffs within the
jungle landscape are maximized to generate an integration of the house with its environment.

The challenge of the commission was to exalt the user’s connection with the natural context in their daily life. In this way, tours, a patio of water and terraces, add to the idea of creating atmospheres of relaxation, leisure and enjoyment.

The property is accessed by a sloping road that leads to the main access as well as the covered parking. The hall consists of an outdoor staircase flanked by two volumes of stone enclosure in the form of weeping walls, which leads to the central courtyard of the house, this being a large mirror of water.

The house is segmented into two geometries that programmatically help differentiate between private spaces and social spaces. In this way, the first houses three bedrooms with their respective bathrooms, while the second contains the room, dining room and kitchen, with the possibility of unifying with the pergola terrace and the grill. Within the same volume is the master bedroom as an exclusive private space with direct connection to the infinity pool and ocean views.

The main structure materializes into apparent concrete and partition, as well as secondary elements of local stone and steel. Parota wood gives warmth to the house, resulting in a chromatic gray and coffee that coexist organically with the natural environment.

The project resumes passive bioclimatic systems through cross ventilation in various spaces, adapting to the beach situation of the area. Green roofs were implemented, with the idea of mimicking the surrounding vegetation, reducing paved surfaces, as well as generating thermal comfort inside the residence. On the other hand, the house has its own sewage and gray treatment plant, in order to reuse and minimize the environmental impact.

Casa Mateo está ubicada en uno de los puntos más elevados del desarrollo Punta Garrobo en Zihuatanejo. Las vistas oriente y poniente hacia el océano Pacífico y los acantilados dentro del paisaje selvático se maximizan para generar una integración de la casa con su entorno.

El reto del encargo, fue exaltar la conexión del usuario con el contexto natural en su cotidianidad. De esta forma, recorridos, un patio de agua y terrazas, suman a la idea de crear atmósferas de relajación, ocio y disfrute.

A la propiedad se accede por un camino en pendiente que guía al acceso principal, así como al estacionamiento techado. El vestíbulo se comprende de una escalinata en exterior flanqueada por dos volúmenes de piedra de recinto a manera de muros llorones, que guía hacia el patio central de la casa, siendo este un gran espejo de agua.

La casa se segmenta en dos geometrías que programáticamente ayudan a diferenciar entre los espacios privados y los espacios sociales. De esta forma, el primero alberga tres habitaciones con sus respectivos baños, mientras que el segundo contiene la estancia, comedor y cocina, con la posibilidad de unificarse con la terraza apergolada y el asador. Dentro del mismo volumen se encuentra la recámara principal como espacio privado exclusivo con conexión directa hacia la alberca infinita y vistas al océano.

La estructura principal se materializa en concreto aparente y tabique, así como elementos secundarios de piedra local y acero. Madera de parota le da calidez a la casa, resultando en una cromática de grises y cafés que conviven orgánicamente con el entorno natural.

El proyecto retoma sistemas bioclimáticos pasivos por medio de ventilación cruzada en diversos espacios, adaptándose a la situación de playa de la zona. Se implementaron techos verdes, con la idea de mimetizarse con la vegetación colindante, reducir las superficies pavimentadas, así como generar un confort térmico al interior de la residencia. Por otro lado, la casa tiene su propia planta de tratamiento de aguas negras y grises, con la finalidad de reutilizar y minimizar el impacto ambiental.
