For its new headquarters in Milan, Gruppo Orsero (leading company in the distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables) has chosen the top floor of one of the new buildings designed by ACPV Architects in the Symbiosis district, with a wonderful view over the city of Milan.

The project focuses on re-designing the interiors to adapt them to the needs of the company, which preferred closed offices and separate areas rather than a large open space.

The spatial division is defined by a trilithic system of monolithic elements placed in the cartesian space following the rhythm of the facade; a new horizon, 260 cm high, mitigates the height of the interiors and dialogues with the domesticity of the human scale.

The central core, which initially contained only the staircase and toilets, is coated with a blue lacquered wooden volume and becomes the center of gravity around which the life of the office takes place; its caliber varies according to the functions it hosts, reverberating its presence in the surrounding space.

Natural light, which floods the space thanks to the presence of the glass facades, becomes one of the main elements of the project: the system of partitions and beams marks the passage of time and allows the creation of separate areas, letting the space be perceived as a whole at the same time.

Even the choice of materials is related to their dialogue with light and to the will to create a domestic space within an environment in which the technological aesthetic of plant and structural system is strong.

The vinyl flooring is a homogeneous backdrop from which the birch plywood and Fenix steel elements discreetly emerge. The central core, monochromatic blue, alternates lacquered surfaces with the warmth of the textile elements which contribute to improve acoustic comfort.

The distribution space expands to lose its primary function and becomes a place for relationships and informal work. Here a meeting room can be set up by closing a soundproof curtain. The whole open-space overlooks a large loggia, an expansion of the internal environment. The new landscape of potted plants filters the sunrays and acts as a mediator between working life and the city.
